A driver was fortunate to be alive after crashing his car in Bangkok on Thursday morning.

The incident occured after the vehicle smashed into an electricity pole on Borommaratchachonnani Road outside Noble Anawana village.

The driver reportedly admitted he fell asleep at the wheel of his Porsche.

Photos from the scene shared by JS100 Radio showed the man’s car flipped on its roof and  totally destroyed.

Incredibly the driver suffered only minor injuries.

He was taken to Thammasala police station.

High speed and concrete poles  not a good mix .

The tires look practically bald probable contributing factor .

WOW another 60KPH accident I've no doubt ............LOL

To take down a concrete pole like this with a car , the driver was definitely driving at very high speed ... and then fell asleep ?

I guess he was drunk ...

Must be crumple technology at its finest

It is one of the miracles of the world how so many cars in Thailand crash into poles. We read of it every single day. Thailand - hub of magnetic poles.

F1 tyres (slicks) don't have tread, that way there is more rubber in contact with the road.  Thus drivers here are just emulating the driving techniques of that famous Thai Formula 1 multiple World champion ........whose name escapes me.

Other countries should look at this system of having speed arresters at the edge of the road every 100M.

From the video, it looks like he was going down the inside (left hand) lane.

why do so many posters fail to read the OP?

the driver stated he fell asleep - the video would tend to support that statement, as it seems to me no brakes were applied and the car was going straight. awake, a driver in any state of intoxication (including none) would have tried to brake and to correct steering.

Somchai Schumakakorn ?

Luckily, no one except the moron driving this rocket have been hurt. Well, since he's still alive, he can give it another try...

Not drunk, apparently.

I wonder how knowledgeable the ‘emergency services’ are with hybrid or all electric vehicles ????

Those orange cables are that colour for a reason ????

Is that the same car ? First pic has one tyre missing , another pic has a car with 2 rear tyres.

it was not his day, not his time and not the place and all thanks to the lucky  "amulet"
