Horror at B-Quick

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Today at 3pm, I went out to buy tyres. I had already spoken to B-Quik web chat who told me to drop into a branch to order them as none had them in stock. So I pitched up to B-Quik Pattanakarn at 3:15pm.

I got told to park the car, hand the keys over - and was with my son who explained "nothing to check - just need new tyres, we need price and time/date to get it done". We were told to wait. After 30 mins - we went up to the counter to see what the hold up was. Got told "you are in the queue, we need to check". We told them I just wanted a new front set, we don't need to check anything as we want to buy new ones. After another 30 mins - still no price and I am becoming the farang that every Thai person hates. They told us they could order them but couldn't tell us how much they would cost - now, bear in mind "ordering them" means a phone call and tyres on a motorbike same day - so it's not like they need to get on a boat.

So I got back on the web chat to explain and they got said they would have a word. They squared it and said the gal there would give us a quote and a time. After another 15 mins, the car gets driven into a ramp, they put covers on the driver seat and steering and a guy goes round with an compressor filling the tyres. I asked what they were doing and got told at that point they were waiting for a quote and it would be another 20 mins. So I went full farang and asked them to please leave my car alone and to give me the keys, so I could leave. I still have no idea exactly what it was they thought they needed to do.

My son was mortified and in the car I told him that this is what happens when you give employees rules to follow and don't let them use their noggins.

So then we went to a place called Tyre Plus on Pattanakarn 53, they were great, we had a quote in 5 mins but a different model tyre. I wan't sure, so I asked what these were rated for and it was 270kmh, which I figure is faster than I'm going to go in the village. It was 90 mins to deliver. They were smart, they all seemed happy, they were fun, they were flexible.

B-Quik basically scared the <deleted> out of me. They made me extremely nervous with their sheer cluelessness. The other lot - well, it was like being in UK. Chat, options, questions answered and feeling like they wouldn't put the things on backwards or leave the tracking rods disconnected.

It was a surreal 4 hours. I am not sure there is a lesson but I'll never step foot in B-Quik again.

Used Tyre Plus in 3 different locations.

Always professional, efficient, price right.

My go to place if possible.

B-Quik --- irony ?

You get good ones and bad ones I've heard stories of bad Cockpit outlets to.

We are lucky to have a good Cockpit in Sukhothai.

B-Quick staff can be strange sometimes, I suspect they do it on purpose to sabotage the company, probably because of a poor supervisor giving them <deleted> and them taking revenge on customers

they probably didn't have the thing in stock, and wanted you to leave, so why bother give you a price if they don't have it in stock

problem solved, Thai style ????

At a ‘rim' shop years ago...  I was interested in new set of 22” Alloys..

I pulled up outside the ‘rim’ shop and wanted to go in and have a browse. The staff (owner?) came out and asked what I was interested in, I said rims for this car.

He asked me for my car keys and I don’t know why, but I gave them to him. He proceeded to my car and got in.

I told him to get out and it didn’t, so I grabbed him arm and pulled him out. I got in and drove off.

I was with a friend at the time, non of us could work out what the guy thought he was doing? ensuring he had a captive audience by taking the car and putting it non a ramp?

There are some very very odd happenings in various industries and services here, thinks and just make us shake our heads, there’s logic in their somewhere, but it is so alien to us we can’t recognise anything but the <deleted><kwittery !!!

Op: Given your story, the only thing that doesn’t surprise me is that you didn’t drive off sooner.

That said, at the B-Quick on Sukhumvit 71, I rocked up with a slow puncture. They guy asked for my car keys and again I just handed them to him, he gets in my car and puts it on the ramp, found the puncture (a screw), plugged the tyre, checked the air-pressure in the other tyres and had the car back to me in minutes (less than 10). B-Quick would not accept payment for plugging my tyre.

Another story:  I’d driven up to Mae Sot and had a blow out along he way (rear left, blew out at about 80kmh - no major issues). I change the spare and decided to order a new set of tyres. No garage up there had anything like the correct sized tyres for my 4x4. I had to get my Wife to a tyre shop in Bangkok and send the tyres up on a bus as ‘cargo’ !!!...  it worked, my tires arrived, I took them to the same tyre shop which couldn’t help me earlier.

But, the machine couldn’t put the tires on the car - the guy asked me for my keys, and again, I gave him my keys. He gets into my car and drives off !!! W.TF ??? - what is it with people in the car industry just getting your keys and driving your car without an explanation ???? !!!!  the guy came back an hour later with the 4 new tires on my Car !!

I don’t know about that.... Isn’t ‘mai-mee’ one of the most common ‘Thai to Farang’ phrases ?? they could have just said that instead of going through the song and dance described by the Op.

Did the Tyre shop say anything about the state of the Tyres which they removed.

You changed all four?

What were the rear Tyres like? Your car is rear wheel biased I think.

Go to Tompson Garage... they have Hofmann alignment equipment. Also they specialize in Mercedes repairs so will know if you have a problem.

Also there must be an MB C43 Club on FB or LINE where you will find quite some experts...and can swap experiences.

I find our MBEQ-TH group very useful.

Just a thought do you often drive to Pai....

I've had mixed results with B-Quik. though I've never bought tires from them as they are more expensive than at other shops for the same tire.

Tyre plus are very good though, and their prices for their limited range of tires is competitive. They mostly stock michelins.

Quick to take your money, I think 555. I needed to repeatedly return to them to fix problems after they supposedly fixed my car. Problems with the air cond unit, using the wrong fan belt - witch I think damaged on of my pulleys that cost 5K to relapce at aindependent honda garage (where I should have done my air cond in the first place!)

Need aircon service - visit an aircon shop.

No comments - other than asking me if I wanted to do a few donuts in the car park to get it out of my system before they strapped the new ones on.

Rears are down but have a few months in them at least.

I also thought mine was more rear wheel - but allegedly it's AWD the moment you put your foot down or when it feels you need the traction. It doesn't feel like  RWD at all but doesn't feel like FWD either.

Today, I have mostly been driving like Miss Daisy. It won't last.

I think you have the basic 4MATIC and not the +. It is 60/40 split until as you say... give it some...and then the system does all sorts of wonderful things to assist you...

B-Quik is owned by a guy from the Netherlands I think it is. So ironically, probably the most European of the outfits. Funnily enough though, I had a similar experience with them, and then also went to Tyre Plus. Short while later I drove off with a set of 4 new well priced tyres without any drama.

Depends on the dentist.

I've had that said to me loads of times, I now tend to ignore them and take a look for myself, and often find what i want.

I used Cockpit for new tyres twice now.

Really great, the wheel balancing & aiighnmment  was better than out of the factory.

4 tyes alighnmed, balanced 50 minutes

Highly recommended

Good point but makes me wonder if the dentist would indeed put you 'on a ramp'  and proceed to do the exam before declaring that he needed better equipment than his finger and make a new appointment for you next week.

Let the buyer beware I guess. Same story in every country on the planet unfortunately.

I still have nightmares about B-Quick. I'll never go to that place again, they are a bunch of charlatants. They set themselves in very busy Shopping Complexes, peoples get their car in and go shopping, go back to get their car and , of course, if it's ready you get a bill longer that your arm.

Yes. They have fully adjustable chairs.

OK - so the way I got this car was....

We didn't need a new one but thought COVID might get us some discounts, we went into BMW first and got a million Baht discount on a 530e. Sweet deal. 3.2 million all in.

Then went into Benz, saw the C43 Coupe and knew I was in trouble. We test drove both, I decided the BMW was more appropriate for the family, but we put it to family vote - between the wife, out 18 year old lad and our 11 year old daughter.

I Lost 3-1. Later when I asked my daughter about her vote she said "mommy told me to vote for the Benz". The wife told me that I should know all Thai elections are rigged. Game Set and Match.

So we went played off the Benz dealers until we got a price on the 2021 model that they promised me not to epeat out loud, partly because an ex-employee knows someone there.

As for the model - no idea. I basically pointed and said "I want that one" - I didn't choose the color (I got the color of the showroom model), I didn't ask about anything else but I don't think there was a plus on offer because the wife would have got everyone to vote for that.  All I know is 385-390 horses and 0-100 in 4.1-4.5 seconds depending on who you ask. What I will say is that I have found BMWs and Mercs more loaded here than back in the UK, where I swear seats are extra.

When I drove to Samui, I stopped at a service station next to another C43 AMG. Both red plates, his was graphite. The English guy was with his missus andwere comparing the my black with his. He said to me "I couldn't decide on your color or the one I got and I still don't know which I prefer" and I said "They do different colors?". Who knew?

I asked him if he had fun in it because I though the car was a hoot. He said it's great - but the missus won't let me drive fast. I said to him "then why have that one?" He said "we really love how the car looks". I replied "Not the car, I mean the girlfriend". My wife thought it was funny but his missus didn't. .

So we gave them a 10 min head start and as I passed him, I dropped it down so the exhaust was screaming and popping as we went by.

I sincerely hope he still has the car.

Anyway - from this thread you can gather

- I know nothing about cars, not even the one I am driving

- I don't let my wife tell me how to drive

- My wife get's her own way most of the time, while I maintain the illusion I am in control

- I am quite immature

The longer this thread goes on, the dumber I will look. I only found out there was no spare in the car on Sunday and I've had it since August.

The only appropriate thing to do with a car like that !!!...

Hope you find many tunnels to drive through...
