For me, the most important statistic here is the 7 new deaths. R.I.P  The sad reality of consistently finding more and more Covid infections every day. ????

Here is how Thailand is currently doing in the last 7 days

I see we're being drip fed the bare minimum of information at the moment.

Where are these cases?

No breakdown by province?

I said from the very beginning of this outbreak that the daily case numbers would top out at 1,000 per day as that was their testing capacity limit...I may if got the number wrong by 50% but the theory was correct...the numbers will never go higher than this and will stay the same no matter how bad the outbreak really is in reality...no one will ever know the true extent simply because they do not have the resources or desire to test any more people.

As I said yesterday there is a positive test (owner of mum and pop shop)a couple of minutes away from where I am (driving). No mass testing going on to look for spread. This is of course will be happening across Thailand.

7 Deaths, RIP and my condolences to your families.  Maybe the Government will send officials to represent them at the funeral pyre, and express their sympathies, by paying respects and then paying for the needs of the families that they allowed the loved one to be removed from by not listening to the doctors and allowing travel over Songkran.  Malfeasance at its best.

People have died covid already over year! Not many coutry have manage to vaccine citizen. Only USA, UK and Isreal are in good "shape" in vaccine program. More problems because Johnsson and Astrazeneca vaccine gives blood clotts. Just dont have enough vaccine! Israel pay double prize from Pfizer vaccine, reason they get that fast!

This seems relevant today. The Indian system is collapsing because of covid, deaths are being hugely under reported, but India are mass testing. Thailands numbers do not add up, they cannot hide deaths as easily as case numbers

If the variant going around Thailand is as bad as the Indian one, then Thailand must take action now.

Four days in a row of stable case numbers...and continued no exponential increase in infections. Let's hope it continues and starts to decline soon.

Numbers alone are no indication. Are tests increasing? What is the positivity rate of tests carried out? What is the number of PUI. All this information is needed to get a true picture. If tests stay the same and numbers the same? Tests go up, numbers same show a decline? Tests go down numbers go up show increase? Transparency of information is the key, clear simple information should be published. I would also like to know if the daily briefing on covid is subject to questions from the press or just a  statement type briefing?

Comparable sized countries, like the UK, France, and Italy, having the resources, have gone full in for vaccinations...let's look at the numbers of deaths to date:

UK...127,000

France...102,000

Italy...118,000

Thailand...117 (including yesterday's 7).

So which country, by your standard, has cared the most about saving lives? (And selfishly hording the world's vaccine supplies doesn't seem to have done these countries any good if minimizing deaths was the goal.)

The numbers are all out there...and often posted in these daily Covid-19 numbers posts. If you want to dive deeply into the numbers they are available; however, most here just want to allege some vast government cover-up to hide the true figures.

Thailand now number 2 (behind papua New Guinea) with 550% rise in weekly deaths.

Does not bode well for those holiday brochures.

They have admitted from the start that they don't know the exact numbers as they weren't doing massive testing.  All in all, other than this recent wave, Thailand has done a pretty good job with regards to the virus.  Not doing a very good job at getting jabs.

UK 20 deaths today from a peak of 1600 at the end of January. New cases 2400 today from a peak of 68,000 at the beginning of January. More than 60% of adult population have received at least one dose of vaccine. 1 in 5 have had 2 doses. Vaccines work, lockdowns work.

The good news is that the number of positive cases has declined considerably in the Hua Hin area (37 today) and Phuket (9 today) for example. There are no queues at the test centres in Phuket. In fact, the province has been actively pleading for people who may have been exposed to the virus to please come forward for testing, especially foreigners. Admittedly, the situation may be quite different in other provinces.  I have no real data on that other than the original shortage of suplies reported in the Bangkok area over a week ago.

Let's hope the numbers follow suit in other provinces soon.....

Sure, there will be plenty of weasel words but no action and no change in the disastrous direction being followed.

New South Wales has a few positives in quarantine. Heard it said today that daily testing of the populice is quite low at the moment. 6000 a day but they want it back up to >13,000. Population of New South Wales just over 8 million. Relate tests per population and even at the low standard of 6000 tests per day equates at a guess to around 42,000 tests a day in Thailand. Around 1.2-1.3 million a month. So far just over 8,000,000 since the beginning. Australia 16,000,000, UK 146,000,000 and USA 433,000,000. To see one must first look.

Well, they are in good shape in terms of the vaccine roll out, but look  the amount of covid deaths in the UK and USA

UK 127,000 deaths ( similar population to the Thailand )

USA 596,000 deaths

Compare those figures to Thailand  = 110 deaths

So, yeah those countries needed to be prioritized given the sheer number of cases and deaths.

Trump and Johnson both said don't worry it's only the flu. Maybe with a more circumspect attitude the infection rate and death toll would be different.

That and properly closing down their borders, acting faster with lockdowns and stocking up on PPE.

Both governments  of the USA and UK failed miserably
