Sanook reported that police in Chiang Mai had made a quick arrest of a man who attempted to rob a branch of a well known bank at the Tha Phae gate on Wednesday.

Natthaphol, 24, was arrested yesterday at his home in Muang district and taken into evidence was his Honda motorcycle and clothes that he wore.

He had gone into the bank and held some scissors to the neck of a staffer and demanded 100,000 baht.

After the staffer struggled free he fled with nothing.

The police job was made easy because Natthaphol, a foundation rescue worker at a hospital, had circled the area of the bank casing the joint 70 times.

He admitted it was him and said that he had amassed 80 million baht in gambling debts at an online company whom who worked for as a rep.

He has also said that he had planned to marry shortly.

The bank was not named.

Perhaps he was also worried about the cut in interest rates?

You would struggle to find a more inept robber........I guess a debt of 80 million baht must fog the mind somewhat.

Well this is the second robbery reported on here recently were the guys were getting married and needed money or gold.  Women you are sending your boyfriends to prison with your demands Lol

How on earth does a Thai man on probably say £500 a month run up £2,000,000 of debt ?

You just know she'll still marry him though

At that rate he would need about 800 successful bank jobs, and at 3 banks a day he could still get married this year... Good plan!

I bet he was really "cut up" when arrested!

That's a blunt comment.

Has debts of 80 million but demands 100k, I honestly cannot see how anyone without something to put up as security can run up 80 million, more like 80k that would explain the 100k demand, 80k to pay off debt and 20k to purchase some garden shears!

they cut his hair .?

Still by the time he makes it out of nick he'll be quite trim ..

Pity his poor wife to be - hope she dumps him. 80 million debts and he wants to marry .... Lady RUN!

If this fool actually has that much debt, his time in jail will be brief.  There will be people in jail who will

most willingly help him to the promise land, because the money lenders of Thailand do not let scum

like this one take their money and run.  Glad I am not in his shoes.

Geezer
