So, One must jump through all the hoops.

Covid tests and certificates, insurance.

Risk of lockdowns in ones own country, and/or flights being cancelled..

Then if/when you finally get to Phukhet

everything is closed and boarded up anyway?

Then theres the risk of getting infected in transit and getting hauled off to some Covid jail.

I love Thailand but it doesnt seem like such a great deal to me.

Does a provincial governor even have the power to expel foreigners?

Less then 2 months away now. How is the vaccine process going?

At this point don't see anyway they can continue with the July 1 opening.

The risk of contracting or transmitting covid outdoors is very low. If you are vaccinate it is minute.

  • Phuket can't control the new virus outbreak with yesterday double digits again.. And they blame the foreigners of course. the 1st of July is important for them, but I think that a boycot to travel to this Island by foreigners is more than welcome. Let them suffer for their stupidity.

The Governors reference is probably partly about this, but true , theres never an opportunity to threaten a falang , even in the act of  trying to attract MORE falang , let pass by. I heard the Central Government , perhaps a little affronted by Phukets slightly more proactive approach to vaxing , insists that the Sandbox Plan will only go ahead if there are zero cases  on the island.

Are defiant Thais expelled too?

Unfortunately foreigners not conforming with the Covid regulations stick out like a sore thumb. I don't know about Phuket but yesterday I was walking through the Royal Garden plaza in Pattaya and noticed 3 expats sitting in the designated rest area chairs with out their masks on. True the chairs were far apart and most probably transmission of covid was unlikely but they don't seem  to understand or care about the big picture. it would not surprise me that the chairs will be put away so that no-one will be able to sit down in the mall because the actions of a few selfish expats. I would like to add that when I was walking through the mall all Thais were in compliance.

You obviously do not read the community case transmissions in Singapore where they are fighting numerous clusters from fully moderna/pfizer vaccinated citizens.

Go back home then, you live here abide by the rules ( which may well be silly or stupid ) and stop bloody moaning

Via criminal law yes

Agree any foreigners in Thailand must follow all the rules.  Unfortunately Thailand or most other countries are going to have to live with Covid for many years to come but it can  be controlled with vaccines and personal safety measures. Hopefully on this basis Thailand maybe able to open for tourism early next year.

Oh <deleted>, here comes the doomsday advocates. Are you talking about the one nurse that got it, inside a hospital? Or the 3 vaccinated people out of several thousand that got it? There aren't 'numerous clusters from fully vaccinated citizens' . Fearmongering at its worst.

The comment you replied to, that risk of transmission among fully vaccinated people outside is basically nil, is absolutely correct. Stop spreading irrational fear.

More like matchbox ready to go up in flames.

Every province allowed to have their own rules and change from one day to the next, no wonder people get into trouble, reminds me of my military days. greycoats off, greycoats on, off, on, off, on.  ????

"1.2 Activities that have more than 30 people gathering are prohibited, except whereby the organisers have received approval from an officer or the activities are held by officers themselves. The disease control measures must be strictly applied."

One rule them, one rule for us!

  • Popular Post

At least they are consistent. Always point fingers and threaten the foreigners while crying about not having tourists.

After all it is foreigners who are testing positive on daily basis????

A vaccine does not stop you contracting a virus, it simply allows the body to fight it. Thus stopping illness. ????
