I'm kinda confused, first we had a bunch or foreingers complaining they couldn't get a vaccine, now we have a bunch of foreigners complaining they will be forced to have one. ????

That is correct. They will complain either way. For some it is natural instinct to just oppose anything the Thais come up with.

It is very predictable. It will happen again tomorrow, and every day.

Maybe we could flip this and insist if the Governor can't provide vaccinations for all those who sign up, he goes to jail until he can.

  • This is one step beyond and a massive violation of human rights     First they say no choice on vaccine now they are going to jail people that refuse   It would appear this is

  • Where you will with utmost certainty get covid.   Genius

Speaking of complaining, right on cue!

Two very separate issues, if you can't identity those then I really can't help you in the question you posed sorry.

Yet still again never answering the question, but instead deflecting while ignoring as usual.  You sure do enjoy taking the posts and twisting them for your own gratification.

Buriram Governor Thatchakorn Hatthathayakul urged every individual, aged 18 or more, living or working in Buriram, to submit their COVID-19 risk assessment form and apply for vaccination through the publicly available channels by May 31st.

OK, all foreigners go strait to jail, as the Public Health Ministry say you cannot apply before August, so you fail automatically on 31st May.

Be the first to stand in line and take the needle in your arm of whatever vaccine they give you without a choice, I will be standing by watching to see if you take it or walk away.

Well, we get the same people on here day in and day being negative about totally everything for their own gratification. Sound familiar?

Happily so.

Nothing negative when a basic human right is removed.  Tell me you believe in being told what vaccine you will take and if you don't take it you will go to jail.  Perfectly within our rights to discuss the inequities that have been put in the news.  To you not agreeing with something being forced upon you or anyone else is negative, However I see it as a basic right to make a decision for ones self.  Now if they have many vaccines to choose from and the one I want is available I will be in line to take it.  Being told if I don't sign up to be vaccinated by May 31st, yet being also told we can not until August creates quite a conundrum for you and I as well and a discussion of the issues is far from being negative.

1% has been vaccinated so far, so 99% thais should prepare for 2 years in prison...

The northeastern province of Buriram has become the first province in Thailand to mandate COVID-19 vaccination for all individuals aged 18 and older, with possible penalties as high as two years in prison and a maximum of 60,000 Baht.

Better build more jails.  But honestly.  Saw this coming a mile away and at least a year ago.  This will be the Thai model by the end of the year.  After which about 20% of the Thai population will be felons.

The foreigners want the 'vaccine' (AZ, Pfizer, J&J, Moderna).  Not the 'experimental drug' from China ????

When the Sinovac or whichever chinese one is the flavour of the month here is approved by the WHO and other governments, then I'm sure foreigners will reconsider their position.

Additionally, getting Sinovac won't meet the requirements of being vaccinated when returning home.  Potentially needing to be vaccinated *again*.

The monkey terrifying people with the jail for not signing up for vaccination should end up in jail himself.

Let's find a lawyer and proceed!

If such idiots are not punished they will come back again and again.

This case should also be reported to WHO; this is against WHO policy.

What about those who had covid and recovered (the approximately 98%)? They have the same or greater (read: Chinese vaccine in particular) protection naturally as from a vaccine.

Vaccines are a way to "trick" the body into thinking it needs to make anti-bodies without actually having the sickness; therefore, those who have tested positive in the past, and are not now deceased, are protected in exactly the same way, only achieved via natural means. This is not a secret, yet why is this fact being ignored?

Democracy?  Nope.  Totalitarian state with the dictatorial powers residing in the offices of governors in order to take the heat off of the so-called Czar.
This will be the template for Thailand.  Guaranteed.  Just like provincially mandated mask wearing, this will catch on with the other governors like wild-fire.
"Shut up, line up, get a shot, if you get sick and die, so sad too bad.  It's for the greater good."
And it will not hurt the profits of CP or Siam Bioscience either.

Wait.  Let's see how the Thai population responds to the heavy handedness.  It may be entertaining.  I have no dog in the fight.  I've already assumed that Thai Immigration will mandate shots for visa extensions in 2022.  But a "free" Thai citizen in this land of Freedom and Democracy <cue Chart Thai>?
Let's wait and see.

Its an issue of vaccine hesitancy that they've just not thought through. No surprise there as its gone through Anutin

The correct way to do it is through education not the threat of imprisonment.

It's an interesting point if this is a 'Human Rights' violation or not.  As far as I know, such things are handled by the Country's own legislation, rather than being dictated by say the UN.

I do not know if Thailand has a Human Rights Act (such as the UK, Australia, etc.).  And how many ways that could be interpreted.

I do know some legislation takes into consideration the concept of 'Right To Life', and could be used in this situation to state that by an individual not taking the vaccine they are endangering the right to life of others.

Legally, I doubt that anything could be done about forced vaccination, certainly not in time, and very unlikely by a foreigner.  And the foreigner always has the option to simply leave if they do not like the rules here, so do not expect much help from your home country.

Note: I'm not anti-vaccine.  I'm all for it.  Show me the approved and tested stuff from the US/EU and I'll roll up both sleeves.  However, I have yet to see sufficient data and independent research on the vaccines developed in China to give me the confidence that they are safe and effective.

Exactly! This is WHO's approach.

The WHO should be informed that Thai health minister is supporting forced vaccination.

In fact, what these 'ex-police generals' in governor chairs are doing are terrifying the population. This is completely illegal and has to be stopped. They can't restrict the rights of people based on sick mentality decisions.

One caveat: If we got ill and recovered during the first wave, that was so long ago, the immunity could have expired and we'd get sick in this 3rd/4th wave.  There is no data to support the concept of life-long immunity, especially against variants.

We may be looking at needing to roll up our sleeves on a yearly basis and help China develop it's new vaccine ????

Thailand was among the first nations to sign the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 and seemed committed to safeguarding Human Rights in Thailand. In practice, the reality has been that the powerful can abuse the human rights of their subjects with impunity.

The irony not lost on the fact that for all intents and purposes there are no vaccines.

Actually, this is pretty insane. It appears you are breaking the law for merely not signing up. Pretty ignorant.

I once again am left wondering if this is codified law or just some government mafioso bringing damnation.

Sums up the idiots in charge in regional gov match those in the central gov circus
