"The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration made a last minute intervention on Monday to halt an order by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration from opening parks, massage parlors and other at-risk businesses.

It is the latest public spat between the feuding government organizations that has drawn into question the government’s Covid-19 response and has caused embarrassment for officials in the Ministry of Public Health and the CCSA."

Looks like your massage is gonna have to wait a bit!

Sugar. Was ready to go today.

Saw all the shops getting cleaned and ready to kick off again.

Not time for complacency however as its still rife in the community and could spring up at anytime without measures in place.

"Public health officials continue to urge people to not socialize outside of their direct household until the situation improves. Most cases have come from small social gatherings according to authorities."

I have to say that yesterday, the streets were packed. Queues everywhere. Streets with fruit and food  vendors were packed and massage shops were getting ready to reopen today.

The streets on Rama 4 and Around Silom are still busy and it's 10:40 am. It's like everyone went back to work and did not get the message that there would be no openings today...

Well maybe the powers that be will be very concerned about that. Of course the poor , whom the government don't give a rats a$$$e about, can't afford to travel on the MRT , but those that do well, you never  quite know who some of them are connected to or work for, so let's see if any sensible action is taken other than a "wash and brush up"

You point to the fact that the poor don't take the MRT. Quite so they take sangteows and buses and go to local markets. The person mentioned is a cleaner.

The naming of COVID variants invites another pandemic – of racism

Many Thais were shocked and frustrated at international news reports identifying a “Thai variant” of COVID-19 last week. Among them was Medical Sciences Department director-general Dr. Supakit Sirilak, who said it was unfair to describe the variant as “Thai” since the country had seen only one case – and that was imported.

Meanwhile, the Indian government demanded that social media platforms remove all references to the “Indian variant” of COVID-19, saying the term is not scientifically accurate and damages the country’s image.

Such reactions have nudged many people to dig deeper into how variants are named.

https://www.thaipbsworld.com/the-naming-of-covid-variants-invites-another-pandemic-of-racism/

Well, no surprise as the Asians are all FACE obsessed societies.

That aside, the maligned World Health Organisation cried out at the start of this China-started pandemic that it was not appropriate to call the virus the China Covid virus or Wuhan Covid virus or similar.

They then proceeded to be OK with naming all the variants after the countries they were first detected in.

All these people are absolute morons.

COVID-19 Vaccinations Possible for Hormonal Contraceptive Users

BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) – The people who use hormonal contraceptives can be inoculated against COVID-19 without having to suspend the contraceptive use, the Royal Thai College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said.

The college wrote on its website that hormonal contraceptives with estrogen content in the forms of pills, patches and injections posed more risks of blood clots in users compared with the same risks among the people who do not use the drugs.

However, the problem was rare among Thai women and happened less than what occurred among the pregnant women whose estrogen levels were naturally high, the college wrote.

It's also rare that Thai women get vaccinated.

Thai Medical Sciences Department approves first 14 batches of locally-produced AstraZeneca vaccine

The first 14 batches of AstraZeneca vaccine, produced by Thai pharmaceutical company Siam Bioscience, have passed the quality tests of the Thai Department of Medical Sciences.

The department director-general, Dr. Supakit Sirilak, said that samples of the first five lots of AstraZeneca vaccine and the next nine lots, sent to the department by Siam Bioscience, have met the department’s quality standard, following tests.

He said, however, that the department is waiting for a summary production protocol from the drug company before it can issue the release document for use.

THAILAND REPORTS RECORD VIRUS CASES; DELAYS BANGKOK EASING

BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand is redoubling efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus in labor camps, factories and markets as the number of new reported cases surged Monday to the highest level so far.

A government spokesman said public health authorities met with labor and industry officials to discuss better ways to curb infections that are concentrated in crowded, high-risk places.

The government reported a record 5,485 new cases on Monday, with nearly 2,000 in prisons. Confirmed deaths increased by 19, bringing the total to 1,031 since the pandemic began.

Maybe if they didn't waste time complaining about a variant being named after Thailand, they could have produced 28 vaccines or double.

Thailand is BARELY testing, so all the stats are fundamentally suspect.

Thailand records tests (including retesting the same subjects), rather than the number of people being tested.

I was able to find some data from https://service.dmsc.moph.go.th/labscovid19/indexen.php

Yes but click on the documentation tab and those numbers are for repeat testing also:

Note
1. cannot specify date  There are 11 laboratories cannot provide the information per day from starting date to the 3th of April, 2020.
2. Pos Total number of SARS-CoV-2 detected results from both confirm  and repeat testing
3. Total Total number of test

Yep, just noticed that. So, the number of people tested would then be even lower.

To be clear, Thailand conducts over 50,000 Covid tests a day, but some of these tests are for people who have been tested before.

Let’s face it, every single body who goes to the government to say that they should be vaccinated, gets assurance that they will get priority. With a dwindling supply of vaccines, far lower than was planned, the same vial of vaccine is being promised many times over.

the second week of June sounds like it’s going to be a free for all. I suspect rural provinces who are mostly following health protocols of seeking to vaccinate high risk groups first, are going to be left out in the cold in favor of special interest groups. We will see.

Yes I think quite a bit lower, it takes 2 tests to confirm positive, then if positive you go into quarantine where you have another couple of tests over the 14 days or longer if you need treatment.

Then you take in the tests for all arrivals into Thailand and the tests they also have to do in Quarantine
