Expats over 60 urged to register for vaccine on Thai govt site

Featured Replies

Please be advised that the reservation system for the vaccination appointment is being updated. You cannot make a reservation for a certain amount of time. Please try registration after 3:00 p.m. We have to apologize for all the inconvenience.

Read my post on trying to register today at Udon Goverment Hospital .

They seem to be not interested unless you have a yellow book .

They clearly ignored me today and were very rude .

Well at least Brits who need to renew their passports can then kill 2 birds with 1 stone in the case of BKK!????

Why is that or is it you summise that many of us have recently renewed our passports so in say 9 years time at the next renewal we can go to BKK and get the injection which may be available by then ? ????

I told the MoPH folks --  PLEASE!!!  Don't try to run your vaccine registration system for foreign nationals on the Commodore 64 you have lying around the back office...

But did they listen?   Nooooo!!!!!    ????

There's nothing like a good old clipboard and pen. I've been registered for over a month and already have my appointment for early August.

By which time, of course Covid could have been completely eradicated in our region, the north east, (only 27 cases reported yesterday) so I might not even bother with it.

Unless they've already lost the "paperwork" !

There is a big walk in registration and vaccination facility operating in Big C Chiang Rai. Good oh I thought, let us give it a try!

No foreigners.

I live here.

No foreigners - come back maybe in 14 days!

Registered this morning around 0830 with no problems. Was not offered to scheduled an appointment but was told they will email me with details. Don't live in Bangkok but upcountry.

If the IT guys working for the government would be responsible for FoodPanda, Lineman and Grab food, 50% of the Bangkok population would have died of starvation already

The school registered all staff for vaccination... but the local hospital said that I have to wait until August-September... after all Thai in the district that wants the jab have been vaccinated first!

What if you are over 60 but NOT living with these conditions?

  • Severe Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRDs)
  • Coronary artery disease (CAD)
  • Chronic kidney disease (CKD) (5th stage)
  • Stroke
  • Cancer patients receiving chemotherapy
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity (weight > 100 kg or BMI > 35 kg/m²)

Most over 60's I see propping up the bar every day likely have some or all of the above, whether they know it or not!

No.  I have an appointment for my 1st jab on Sunday in Khon Kaen.

Made the appointment in person at the hospital (Sri Nakarind) about 3 or 4 weeks ago & the staff there logged my details into the government system.

That's excellent. Let us know how it went. Unfortunately 3 of my colleagues were not so lucky in Udon Thani  given the vaccine shortages here.

The 3pm message has gone so gave it another go, no dates or times come up at all now, I got Jan 1st 1970 as well, wait for email from them. Sad that they are not only so xenophobic, but also so desperately hopeless.

I made the rounds to five hospitals this morning. I had previously been told (via email correspondence) that I was entered into the BNH queue. I entered again in person. The system appeared to have no record or any previous entry.
Next I tried Chula. Miraculously, I found the hall where they are doing the vaccinations. After explaining that i did not have an appointment, but rather wanted to register, a woman led me to a list, where I entered my contact info.
At MedPark (one of the “available” vaccination sites,), a helpful information person retrieved their paper registration list, but the sheets were filled up. He could not find another entry sheet, so he wrote my contact info on a scrap of paper and stapled it to the list.
At Bumrungrad, I was told that they do not even have a registration list. They sent me to thailandintervac.com. Same with Samitivej.
I am confident that something will, maybe, possibly… happen

With AZ having an efficacy of 10.4% against the South African variant vs blood clotting and potential death, not from the vaccine/s of course, I will pass and take my chances, but I will thank you for making it clear earlier on when you said Thai's 1st.

Just now, 2:15pm, I was able to make an appointment for June 23 at 2:00pm at Phyathai 2 Hospital for AstraZenica vaccine.

Now I need to wait the email confirmation.

What did you enter in when they asked you if you have med insurance in Thailand?

I have it, but chose to answer NO, and I got no appointment date or hospital assignment.

(Reason being... my policy has a signif. discount for not having had any claims for some years... And I didn't want the government or a private hospital to try to come along and charge my health insurance for the vaccine, and thus cost me a TON of money...)

I'd be very curious to know.. WHY they're asking vaccine registrants if they have health insurance in Thailand, and how (if at all) that affects what happens with the registration process....

I am just going to wait until they turn up om my doorstep with a needle.

Who needs all this run around?

I believe towards the end of the year things may change a little.

We will see.

60 year olds should know how to catch a bus or train.

I entered no insurance as you.

I had to manually choose the hospital assignment and the vaccine.

Go back and look for that. Can you do that?

Phaythai was one of 3 available that 'had vaccines'.

Edit: the available dates only appeared after 2:20 pm today.

You probably read that my appointment was due today, they called Friday to confirm I was going in for the AZ jab, I declined.

The more and more and more I have looked into the science and the evidence, not the conspiracy theories, players who are very qualified Immunologists and Virologist.

No one has been saying that 99% of people are not in the high risk category, WHY !

It was also noted that AZ isn't more than 10.4% effective against the South African strain.

We know that there have been blood clotting and deaths, not associated with the vaccines of course, just look at the millions who have been vaccinated who haven't died or suffered blood clotting.

I have come to the conclusion that there has been a huge mismanagement on this virus and that it is not as bad as it appears, sure for the very elderly, those with pre-existing conditions, and obese people, and of course some younger people with underlying conditions.

In other words, it's the "perfect" virus that no one can escape, dare I say from natural immunity.

I will now take my chances thank you very much as I don't live in a big city, actually in a village away from most, so sitting back and watching the game, sometimes gives you a better view and understanding, then actually going to the game.

Good luck to all, we all have choices, right or wrong, if there are any that are right or wrong under the current climate.

Getting quite fed up being urged to do something that it is not possible to do.

this is just <deleted> covering so that they can later say that they urged people to register for vaccine, not our fault he died.

Pathetic.

Ah but the IT people working for Grab and Food Panda are employed because of their ability and not because who Daddy is, knows, or was prepared to pay.

Nepotism and corruption, the two things that are destroying this country.
