I just had the AZ vaccine as a late afternoon walk-in (no appointment). Lucky I had the pink card.

I'm aged under 60 and was driving past the designated vaccine centre in my city. I've previously read on the internet that one can only have the covid jab if you are over 60 yrs old. If under this age, its possible to be inoculated if you have an underlying disease on their list. I have an issue with my heart.

I walked into the centre at 230pm and presented my PP, Pink id card, yellow book, HN number for my hospital & the business card of my local cardiologist- who works at the govt hospital.

Basically, the main id document they were interested in was the pink card. They said after 3pm they can assess people who didn't show up and if thats the case then I can possibly have the jab. I asked them if I should get the evidence from my doctor can I come back next week. They didn't seem interested so much in the evidence and just told me to wait.

So I waited around and they did all the paperwork. Dr checked my vitals. It was all very civilised and well run. I had the jab and waited for 30min after.

So far the only side effects have been feeling a bit light headed and mild nausea.

To sum up... I had not previously registered on any covid phone app or any other method. I got lucky but this is amazing Thailand and anything can happen.

cheers

That said: That said the rollout of the ‘foreigner registration site’ has been atrocious.... not because Thai’s are xenophobic or racists... but because those in positions of power have no reason to care.

This is where our Embassies need to step up and push the agenda to have any foreigner vaccinated alongside Thai’s, not just with a Pink ID card, but with a Passport !!!!

The reality is the whole registration process is a complete farce... for Thai’s and foreigners.

Millions of Thai’s have had their vaccinations cancelled too.

There has got to be a better way.

Please stop Thai-bashing.

you were very lucky that they got you without registration and lucky they did not ask for medical records (even medicines with your name on them or prescription not older then 1 year will do, according to their rules).

Probably you were the only foreigner vaccinated there today, possibly since monday. So they wanted to be kind.

Interesting if they took your pix (as they did on phuket) and posted them on social media, as a proof that foreigners are already served

How are you feeling now......hello still OK ????

I am booked in next month for my AstraZeneca shot ,I am a

bit worried , as with my luck i could turn out as one of the small

percentage that gets the blood clot.

You face far greater risks getting to and from the vaccination centre !!!

Note - aches, feverish and a general cr@ppy feeling are very normal...  the surprise for me was the ’36 hrs ache’ at the injection site - never had that before with an inoculation, maybe I inadvertently tensed up.

its 10pm now and feeling better than the first 2 hours after the jab. Back then I felt a bit out of it. Its hard to describe the feeling but a bit groggy and tired. I had a quick lie down but couldnt sleep.

At 10pm now just have slight weird feeling in my chest. No headache. No pain in the arm.

Will sleep now and update again tomorrow morning if I make it through the night.

This vac is much better than sinovac and thus worth taking the risk IMHO. If I dont take the risk with this az jab, eg not have it.... the risk of fatality is much higher with my heart issues if I get covid. Therefore it makes sense to me to take the risk to get this jab today

You have got more chance of being killed on the journey to the clinic/hospital.

You have more risk of getting DVT on a flight.

Your missus would have more risk if taking the contraceptive pill.

Those facts don't matter because if you are a worrier, you will worry.

Just happened to drive by with all these documents on your person.

Wow, that's what it takes to live upcountry? Keeping all that on you? Not sure how lucky you really are.

The site doesn't work. That's a fact.

It's mid June no one in Thailand is vaccinated for all intents and purposes.

It's not xenophobic as some claim. Apparently the govt doesn't care about it's own people either.

Don't be worried. I got AZN, had a little light after effects (the vaccine working) but other than that feel fine. Second jab early July. Bear in mind your chances of a blood clot are much higher if you catch Covid 19. But more chance of getting struck by lightning in either case.

Don't you understand?

Any mild criticism of how things are done in Thailand is "Thai bashing" and, morally, the same as kneeling on George Floyd's neck.

Please stop.

Okay. I now accept that my jokes are somehow going over the heads of one or two members here.

Henceforth, whenever I make a subtle joke, I will add 4 or 5 smiley emojis so that even the kids on the special bus will realize that they should not take it literally.

Just to be clear, I was making fun of the people on this forum who use any and every opportunity to accuse others of Thai basing. I was also having a particular poke at Richard who mentioned Thai bashing in the comment right before mine. All six people who reacted to my post understood it was a joke, including Richard. I am bewildered that this was not obvious to you and kynikoi:

From now on, every time I stray into humor, I can either use this string of emojis as a pre-joke alert: ????????????????‍♀️????

... or, this special text: Settle down Colin, you plank, it's just a joke.

Do let me know which you would find easier to understand.

@davidst01 great that you got your jab.

Meanwhile I sit in a red area, nothing available at the local hospitals ????

Both myself and Madam are in the vulnerable group, both over 60 and a recovering cancer sufferer, we are registered (a task in itself) but the hospitals just can't get the jabs.

We will just continue to sit tight and minimise outside contact.

is this true? are you saying catch it whilst waiting for the 2nd jab? or anytime from now on. Or are you taking the <deleted>?

why sit tight and do nothing but wait. take your evidence of cancer etc and all docs at 3pm. their queue system is flawed bc people dont turn up.....

Hope to hear from you tomorrow morning....

I had a shocker of a nights sleep. When I went to bed I could not sleep all night more or less. I experienced sinus issues (blocked nose) and weird pains over my body. I sometimes had small head aches on the front of my head. Last night I thought the feeling was the same as being at high altitude eg the in Andes in South America. This morning  feel completely drained of energy and minor head ache

Last night I also had the chills and then later really hot.

I suppose its all a sign that my body is working???

I really hope for you.

Thanks for informing....

Makes sense to use up that day's allotment for stragglers.

The sooner everyone is vaccinated the better.

Had my AZ jab yesterday, all they wanted was my pink card,no doctors notes ,and to know any health issues, heart problems, its now been 24 hrs fingers crossed the worst thing was her jab ,bit sore ,but now just little sore at site if i touch it. Talking of scare stories just saw headline in DM about some blood disorder with AZ jab,but when you actually read the piece ,happens 1 in 100,000,exactly same as those who have flue jab .
