Shaving !

Featured Replies

As a spin off from another topic running, whats your shaving routine and what have you found to be the best available or as one company promotes "the best a man can get"?

I dont shave everyday, if I am not going anywhere just at home I may miss a day. I dont like shaving but its neccesary. Been through many phases, basic cheap razors, electric razors I found it just took too long and wasnt close enough.

Now I use a good Gillette 3 blade razor and a decent cream for 99bt, done in minutes.Splash of aftershave all done.

What works best for you ?

Bearded people, good for you !

Got myself a Chinese rip of a famous German razor, Merker Futur for $10. 100 blades another $10, I use about 5 blades a year, shave around 3x a week. Foam is too expensive, soap and a brush

I keep my Gillette blade in a cup of vege oil as it is the oxidisation which causes it to go blunt.

Foam is too expensive, soap and a brush ....... soap lasts more than a year.

Works a treat and costs almost nothing.

Electric always burned my skin.

Well start shaving at 15 but due to my nature and continuing loss of blood I gave up having a wet shave after 1 week and to this very day have never had one since. Around that time my Dad bought himself a Remington electric shaver but I guess as he had always wet shaved he could not get accustomed to it and being a blood donor I guess he wanted to help and gave it to me.

That Remington was the old foil type and I'm guessing but it lasted me about 3 years until one day it was giving more scratches then cutting hair as the foil had split in a few places. Couldn't get a new foil so bought another foil type, a Braun I think. Same thing happened after around 2/3 years so binned that and bought a Philishave and have been using them ever since to this very day. I shave every day as I hate having beard growth, always have done as it not only irritates me I also think it looks scruffy as if you can't be bothered to look after yourself. I know many like that look but I don't , never have never will. The last 20 years have seen these types of razors vastly improved and nowadays a very close shave can be had.

I alternate between Gillette Fusion and TOPS SMartR brand 5 bladers. The Fusion are a bit better and sharper but price is outrageous unless you can get a discount with TOPS promos.

I definitely do not shave every day...if I'm staying at home (and that usually means never going outside the garden gate) I'm going au natural...at least where beard growth is concerned.

Yeah...I love Barbasol...except that in the USA it's .99 cents  (31 baht)....cry

Always wearing a mask when I'm out has changed my shaving habits. I no longer see the point of shaving just to go to the supermarket like I did in the days before Covid. Being at home a lot more is another excuse for shaving less regularly.

I currently own a job lot of Watson's 5 bladed razors which I bought  when they were selling them off for less than half price. Not the best but they work.

I used to buy Gillette foam but discovered another brand in Tesco that I tried as it was on offer and I find it much thicker creamier and therefore lasts twice as long. Cost 99bt lasts me a couple of months.

funny that I am reading this.

I have just finished shaving my head with my wireless shaver and my top lip with a very good Japanese disposable.

I also shaved my nether regions this morning as the wife has been complaining for weeks.

Yeah...I just normally use whatever soap I have on hand. I buy really good natural soaps from the local night market...coconut/mango/etc and they work up a great lather.

I use the original and an other slightly more agressive razor. I like them both but i do cut myself at times especially as im an inpatient guy.

But i saved tons of money compared to Gillette and often shaves better too.

Good for you but for that lower part prefer a chemical depilatory cream as it stops hair growth for much longer.

Yeah, I just discovered this as my usual Foamy was out of stock. Seems pretty OK for me.

Gillette Mach-3 razor, I can get a month out of one blade as I'm still at the bum-fluff stage (at 62), even on work days I can get away with only shaving every other day and weekends / public holidays mean the razor has a break too.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

When required  depends  on laziness/ ability probably every 10  days or so BIC razor  shaving foam carefully  removing Wifes  pubes  first????, bathing twice   year if  required or  not.

Left as nature intended, cant understand this  modern craze for baldicocks, not to be confused with Golidlocks

Nitromors...........look  it  up

I shave every other day unless I am going out and shave those days.

I use Gillette Fusion 5 and order them in a box of 12 from Amazon. Cheaper than Thailand pharmacy, and originals. Fakes or cheap razors irritate my baby soft skin. Tried electric several times, quick but never a close shave.

I shave every second day as I actually dislike shaving, but gave up on beards many years ago when I read a survey that 99.9% of women prefer clean shaven.

Another reson for every two days is to make my Nivea shaving foam at 220 Baht  last twice as long.

Well can't remember what I first used years ago, begins with a Y I think but I still see it on the shelves, absolute <deleted> as removes next to nothing. I have tried many over the years but the only one I find works well is FEM ( Rose) an Indian product and have used it ever since. Can be a bit discomforting for a while after but gets the job done.

Nothing to do with a modern craze in my case. Already said in another post my dislike to see beard growth. I also find under arm and pubic hair unsightly and have done for decades, not to mention a bacterial breeding ground irrespective of how many times a day your shower. But each to his own. Some Romanian women have so much under arm hair they sell it off for wigs

You keep that shaven chopper  away from me????
