BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) – The Public Health Ministry is asking three companies for their permission to set up field hospitals in their properties.

Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the negotiation with the private sector to increase beds for COVID patients was necessary because the number of new COVID-19 cases was likely to soar in the next seven days.

He also said the Public Health Ministry laid down effective disease control measures for the home isolation of COVID-19 cases.

Does this mean things are going to get worse before they get better?

Now, if only we had adequate supplies of vaccinations...

This is the million dollar question, so much hinges on the success ( or not ) of how things pan out in Phuket.

If you're older or infirm, being sent to a "field hospital" where patients are densely packed together is just about a death sentence

and if you didn't have the Beta or Delta variant you are sure going to get either or both

Of course they are involving private properties.  Now the chances increase for abuse and payoffs, and fake bad test results that then force foreigners into these places, as well as Thais.  And I would not discount persecution and harassment of some "undesirables" , etc..  And of course some private places offered up their services.

The only point I can see to concentrating physically well people together with sick people is to make sure those who are well end up sick.
It borders on criminal negligence.  I guess nowadays there is no downside to offing the commoners in the name of the greater public good.

Military mentality

Its called collateral damage.

Patient's or "cases?"

People without signs and symptoms of illness are not patients. "Cases" do not require hospitals, or hospital beds or hospitels. Someone is getting just a bit overzealous

Not always as straightforward as it appears.

Seven Nightingale hospitals were built in England, starting in April 2020 with the 4,000-bed facility at London's ExCel centre. Another was set up in Belfast, while Scotland and Wales had their own temporary hospitals.

But they were never used on a large scale, because the NHS did not have enough trained staff to fill the Nightingales as well as the permanent hospitals.

They don't need trained staff, this is Thailand

Those places are prisons for the people who are not to be trusted (everyone), not hospitals.
