I think they saw this coming, with all the talk of tighter lockdowns and travel bans yesterday.

Way after the horse left the stable, what does it take to hold someone in this clusterfk excuse of a Government responsible? This is beyond apoorling,  my heart goes out to the people of Thailand including the expats who have made Thailand home.

I've been asking around about getting oxygen tanks for backup.

Everyone we've called is sold out.

What kind of stores have you been contacting to get those tanks?

Especially since the Government has been skimming the profits from anything they can, someone needs to freeze their assests and redistribute funds while they join the people in jail to prop up the short fall from the "departed"

Where do we go from here "To the moon Alice, to the moon".  Look at the 7 day rolling average as it climbs.  This should definitely put Thailand amongst the tops in Asia but then I am probably wrong as this is occurring everywhere.

It looks like they won't be happy until Thailand is number one. Just like the motorcycle deaths per year. They know they need the vaccines and they say they ordered them but where the hell are they?

A few pharmacies who carry Oxygen tanks in Sakon Nakhon.

Any suggestions, we have two older diabetic women living with us.  Id rather be on the safe side.  If we don't use them I can donate them after the pandemic.

The high number of discharges allowed more admissions, which allows for a higher number of reported new cases.

The key number is net admissions, how many additional patients were squeezed into the hospital system after accounting for discharges.

Didn’t I read that they aren’t admitting all positives now and that some with no symptoms were sent away to self isolate?

maybe I got that wrong, but if it’s true then clearly new admissions isn’t a key number at all.

Even the number testing positive isn’t the key number because everyone knows not enough testing is done.

No one knows what the two key numbers are, namely, how many people in Thailand are infected now and was is the rate of infection.

Next milestone is 20,000 per day and that will be along quickly if the testing by army personnel are additional tests.

There is an ongoing criminal investigation per the paper we can not name into the hoarding of oxygen and related equipment supplies.

WHEN TRYING TO PREVENT COVID-19 PANIC CAUSES MORE PANIC

In times of public health emergencies and economic crises the truth needs to be told. The public needs to be able to speak freely without fear, be informed, articulate, criticize and hold the government accountable. The regime of Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha is fostering the opposite, however.

As part of the 14-day curfew and semi-lockdown introduced earlier this week, the government issued an order under its emergency power to criminalize distortion of news and information  that cause misunderstanding in the emergency situation, panic or affect state security, order and good morals of the public. This will last 14 days to begin with. Violators face a possible maximum imprisonment term of two year and/or fine of up to 40,000 baht.

Draconian emergency order muzzling people and the media will in fact ensure the opposite and people will have less confidence in the government’s already appalling and incompetent handling of the coronavirus outbreak and the economy with new daily infections hovering just under 10,000 people and daily deaths from 60 to more than 90. Today, the figures even went through the psychological barrier with over one hundred deaths at 141 and over ten thousand infections at 10,080 since the outbreak began a year and a half ago.

If you can assume that the figures are true, then the reason is probably that far more people in the UK are already vaccinated  than in, which reduces the severity of symptoms, even with the delta variant.

Oh no please tell me that someone will not be locked up for LM related to the truth telling here in the article.  Well written in my view and is on point.

You have heard of placebos, well Thailands narrative seems to be spouting the complete opposite.

My uncle once said don't read health books you might die of a misprint!

I appreciate Thailand expats are generally retired so best to get vaccinated however it seems to be marginal protection and for a limited time but better than nothing.

When you move to Thailand there's certain things you have to accept, and surely the whole roll out thing was always going to be chaotic,  can't really be surprised.

Still there's twice as many deaths on the road as there is is from covid, yet no one's debates driving as much as you do about worrying about people socialising etc.

As we are now finding it's just a case of living with it as most other countries are now doing.

If it wasn't for the media here in the UK, I'd have no idea we are in a pandemic

Less than that. Someone sent home to self-isolate is by definition not admitted and therefore does not show up in the statistics. They may not even be tested, because what is the point?

Many people do not watch the news or pay attention to the papers or such because it stresses them out, but ignorance to what is going on in these times is far from helpful to oneself.  To say you wouldn't know we are in a pandemic means you live an isolated life and do what you want regardless.  Be safe.

Your handle on the epidemic seems a bit loose.

Relatively few people in Thailand have died from Covid -so far. If this wave continues, you won’t be able to go to a hospital, everything will be locked down, you see neighbors dying of Covid, and your life will change dramatically.

Remember, in the first weeks of the Black Death, it wasn’t so bad.

Yes, but what will they do when there are 3 to a car or 2 on a bike, with the roadway gridlocked, horns honking, and a large truck with speakers being used as the platform as they drive down the road at 1 mph.  How can that be construed as an illegal gathering. "But sir we were trying to get to 7-11"

Yes there's one pretending to govern Thailand, and it's in the out of control group.

Bangkok obviously has the most cases of any province, and its new case number for Saturday rebounded some after three straight days of declines. But Saturday's 2,302 number, an increase of 107 from the prior day, was still down by 28 percent from the peak of 3,191 reached just over a week ago.

Ok let's be objective here: would you say Thailand has screwed up more or less than comparative countries in SE Asia and Central America ?

Eh?
you have heard of asymptomatic right?
If someone turns up at hospital for a test are you saying they don’t get tested if they don’t have symptoms? (It wouldn’t surprise me)

and if they test positive without symptoms I thought that some were now being sent home to isolate( maybe I got that wrong)

if they get tested, they should be in the stats, whether they are positive or not. Otherwise everyone who gets tested would be positive!
you have some very weird logic

Ramathibodi Hospital has announced the suspension of all elective surgery appointments and some ward services, with the exception of emergency cases, until further notice.

The suspensions are part of the three measures announced yesterday by Dr. Surasak Leela-udomlee, director of the hospital, citing that the soaring number of infections among the medical, which has now reached about 300, and the hospital’s overwhelming workload taking care of about 1,000 hospitalized COVID-19 patients, 350 patients in home isolation and 200 others waiting to be admitted for treatment.

The third measure is the scaling down of out-patient examination and telemedicine services and postal deliveries of medicine

https://www.thaipbsworld.com/ramathibodi-hospital-suspends-some-services-as-300-medics-infected-with-covid-19/

It was reported last week that around 98% of medical workers in Bangkok had been vaccinated, so with 300 here having been infected with the virus thats a very large proportion from just one hospital.

When are the boosters of AZ or an mrna coming, they need them now, Sinovac is not as effective and they need the best protection available.

These are our frontline staff fighting for us.

The news comes as The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is planning to elevate COVID-19 prevention measures in the 10 most strictly controlled provinces, after finding current restrictions are not having an impact on the situation, as well as violations of rules.

What strict measures?

Apart from bars being kept closed people can go about their daily lives pretty much as normal.

Look at the rest of the world not many under 2 million cases and tens of thousands dying.

The worst is yet to come unless they implement a total lockdown, start sanitising streets particularly street markets (let's not forget where this virus supposedly started), get the people vaccinated and slowly monitor all lifting/easing of restrictions, with a view of re implementing them if necessary.

But we all know this is never going to happen.

What they will rely on is herd immunity.

I would have a discussion about what "admission" means, and case management, but it would bore everyone to tears.

Start a new thread then, I am sure some would be interested.
