Daily News reported that Thailand's transport ministry has ordered a crackdown on motorcycle taxis ripping off the public at the swanky new station in northern Bangkok called  Grand Central Bang Sue.

 

They are particularly concerned at difficulties being faced by people arriving at the station to be vaccinated in one of the Thai capital's biggest vax centers. 

 

Sanook said that many passengers were being overcharged. 

 

Deputy at the ministry in charge of Covid related matters Sorapong Phaiboonpong ordered the Department of Land Transport to crack down on illegal practices.

And the transport police have been empowered to sort things out. 

 

Pasengers are also arriving at the station to use the Red Line heading north to Rangsit. 

 

Daily News called the "win riders" (motorcycle taxis) mafia in their headline.

Boy that's a surprise...

as they can lend their motorbike, vest and driver ID only once, for the priority vaccination, they are resorting to any possible means.

Probably it isn't the best idea to crowd people in one grand location. 

Creates traffic jam in an area already notorious for them. And lacks parking space, so drivers are parking on roads.

Now imagine some crackdown with the Phuket taxi mafia. Or are they too powerful or too much connected with the BiB?

A couple of motorcycle guys are an easy target. And they can say: Look, we do something!

When I was fairly new here, a motor taxi tried to rip me off going from More Chit bus station to a nearby hotel......he asked for 200 baht for what google said was a 2 km journey. I laughed in his face. He kept calling me back with lower offers. I walked across to where the air conditioned taxi rank was....cost 67 baht and a nice man driving instead of an a$$h0le. Never used mototaxi since. Same with motorcycle tuk-tuks, or yuk-yuks. I have been in one once, never again. Get them off the road I say.

That would be the Red Line that won't open to the public until August 2?

These wealthy farang vax hustlers should be greatful they are getting any service at all. In many other countries these medical carpet baggers and line jumpers would be robbed and stripped and run out of town

On the contrary. It's a well observed post and accurate comment. Rich white line jumpers are taking vaccines that locals could use and then moaning when some of the poorest people in the nation try and make some money by providing a service The wealthy hustlers need and want.

Just exactly what is that supposed to mean? White people (rich or poor) are entitled to a fair and equitable access to vaccines the same as the "locals" We are all human beings (with the exception of people like you that make such stupid and racist comments) that deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, period!!!

 

Dual pricing, judging people by the color of their skin, segregation and being told "Thai ONLY" is racism. There is no place on planet Earth for anyone that thinks like you, PERIOD!!!
