Phuket to Pathumthani By Car with Driver

Featured Replies

How much would I expect to pay for a one way Panwa to Pathumthani in a Camry or similar. No vans. And can anyone recommend a company or driver. This is for my wife who has zero patience with bad or rude drivers. A female driver would be good.

12h in a car (according to Goggle Maps). What could possibly go wrong?

Good luck with that idea.

Possible to find a fully vaced driver?

You say Panwa.   I have several friends who live in that area, and I know that there are quite a few taxi drivers.   I'm sure that the hotel that she is staying in would be able to recommend someone.

You have it in 12GoAsia.

12 hours travel in taxi.

12100 baht

I bet you could find someone to do it for half that.  Can't you get a private driver for the day for under 2,000?  If you figure 2 days, gas, and overnight accommodation, 6,000 seems reasonable.

I can't recommend anyone but I'm sure even in these difficult times there will be someone who can do this but it's knowing that the driver is OK that's the problem. Hopefully someone will be able to help with that so you know your wife will be safe.

Having said that in my experience Thailand isn't really the place for someone who has zero patience with bad or rude drivers. If someone says Thai people are polite you know they've probably never driven on the roads. When I'm asked by Thais what I miss most about the UK I say polite and competent drivers.

Done this a few times, and although traffic is probably lower now, you'll be hard pressed to actually make it in 12 hours.  With checkpoints and the likes, plus a few stops for gas/rest, I'd say 14-16 hours.  If the weather is bad (as it is right now down these parts) you can add more time due to lower visibility/speed.  That's a lot of driving.

Any driver is going to charge you for their return journey, so it's more like 2 days work for the driver, 1 night accommodation (and maybe more), plus gas.  I drive a big dirty diesel Pajero, and it blew through 4,500 THB each way.  Even a car is likely to use at least 2-2.5K in fuel each way.  In fairness, the charge is likely to be closer to that 12k figure than 6k I'd say.

Try https://www.facebook.com/jackie.kanlong.  Lady driver.  Very calm.  Works in Phuket driving for multiple years, but not sure if she's still here now or if she'd drive this far.  You'll find some recommendations of the various Phuket sandbox FB groups.
