Thai beauty queen tricked into paying 800,000 baht for victory
Outstanding comment - I couldn't agree more..... ... Yet here we are in a country knowing that we, nor those around us have the freedom to speak as freely as we wish - while free speech requires responsibility, it cannot be chained. Its a crying shame that Thailands potential is stifled by such self serving myopia. -

Trump Haitians here is the link
Springfield used to have a population of over 80,000, so there is probably some leeway, but perhaps 15,000 recent arrivals would strain low income housing. -

Documentary explores war crimes being posted on social media.
If Hamas / Palestinians had the military capability they'd kill a LOT more than 40,000 Israelis. They'd kill ALL the Jews in the world if they had the capability. We should be thankful they're relatively weak in a military sense. Israel on the other hand could wipe their enemies off the map if they chose to, but instead have kept casualties down to a modest 40,000 (which includes 19,000 Hamas operatives). -

Kim Jong Un Warns of Nuclear Retaliation Against South Korea
When North Korea developed Nuclear Weapons, it was a different time, with little understanding of how extremists / terrorists work. Today is vastly different, with uncle sam being very aware of the destructive power of even a single terrorist. Iran, nor any other non fully democratic country will ever be allowed these weapons. Israel will soon bomb their facilities back to the stone age (with usa help), and any other dictatorships attempting to develop such weapons will meet a similar fate. The world is now "woke" guys, stop worrying about it, there are many wiser and much more informed guys than us working on this 24/7. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
I fully agree. The story about the Thais loughing reminds me of the Germans back in the day when interest income became taxable for the first time in Germany. Everyone had a good lough and simply moved their account to Luxemburg. Years later they all got busted and paid a hefty toll, some went to jail like Boris Becker, Hoeness, Zumwinkel etc. -

Having kids when old
Really ?? ... thats quite sad. The implication is that you cut ties with your children, but that may just be the character of your response lending to that assumption - I apologise if I'm mistaken. My childhood bedroom is now my Sons room when we go back to the UK and visit my folks a couple of times per year.... my family home has always felt like my family home, both my Wife, Son and I have belongings and clothes there... its our home in the UK and always will be for as long as my Parents live there. That said... I do have desire to have more children, as does my Wife as it was and still is so much fun the first time around..... But there is firm element of realism as we are now in our late 40's... and we both agree its a bit to late for more (thats just a personal perspective). -

Any US Social security recipients out there doing direct deposits?
@Charlie D. And since you said you are using K-bank to receive your IDD payment depending on where your K-bank branch is located in Thailand there "may", repeat, may also be an "upcountry" BAHTNET fee which is in addition to the basic Bt100 BAHTNET fee. But if you K-bank branch is in Bangkok and surrounding provinces only the basic Bt100 BAHTNET fee applies. And even if your K-bank branch is not in/around Bangkok the upcountry BAHTNET fee may not apply in the case of this particular incoming US govt payment. Do the math as I described in my above post just using the Bt100 fee....if your baht payment is still a little off then crank-in the K-bank upcountry fee shown in their BAHTNET fee chart below. https://www.kasikornbank.com/en/personal/services/payment/pages/bahtnet.aspx -

How do you pay?
Tourists with QR codes maybe not but When I see a Frang at Topps market I steer clear. Them what pay with their dirty bills. It is faster to line up behind a Thai woman who appears to be shopping for her family, always with a card. Faster. Not because it is necessarily, but they know what they are doing. The farnag often comes back (bellowing, claiming to be overcharged) These are the Chiang Beer vest drunk at 11 AM types, easily avoided.- 1

Thailand's Cashless Leap: Ahead of the Asean Pack by 2028
When people mostly use cash, they can at least know how much money in their wallet/pocket. But when they rely on cashless payment all the time, they often forget it. And the promotion of online settlement undoubtfully increases the risk of overspending among the people with lower financial literacy. Interesting news. Power of Attorney to help with NON O (married to Thai wife) renewals only
There is alternative. Put everything into wife name. Use an agent ongoing. Does not need to be in your immediate area. Obviously leave enough funds (for wife) for "last step"
