Chonburi massage workers and operators protest at Chonburi Provincial Hall, asking for reopening of massage shops or adequate financial aid

Chonburi – A group of area massage workers and operators this morning (August 13th) handed a letter to the Chonburi governor at the Chonburi Provincial Hall asking for the reopening of massage shops or adequate financial aid, claiming that they had little to no aid from the government for continued mandated Covid-19 related closures.

The Chonburi Governor Phakarathorn Teanchai received the letter from massage workers and operators asking for the reopening of massage shops or any possible loosening restrictions and measures for some services in massage shops. Previously, they had been allowed to offer foot massages for about a month by the Governor before being shut once again when Chonburi became a maximum control zone on July 20th.

Massage shops in Chonburi are currently closed following the order from the Chonburi governor to control the spread of the Covid -19 virus. In fact, nearly everything except for food and medicine is closed in Chonburi in terms of public businesses. TPN media notes that, technically, massage shops are considered “high-risk” by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, in Bangkok and are mandated closed in 29 maximum control provinces, including Chonburi, by the CCSA.

They should forget the reopening part of the request for the indefinite future.

They could start by opening the foot massage places first, and if all goes well, they could slowly work their way up.

That is totally wrong if you lock down you will have to pay or else people will resent you. You can't have a lockdown without helping the people who are suffering. In my country people got aid as they did in many other countries.

If Thailand cut army spending for a few years they might be able to afford it but of course that will never happen. Sad state forcing a lockdown (im pro lockdown) but with little aid to those suffering its cruel.

They should start a home delivery service. Rub and tug mobile!

Hookers were also protesting not too long ago.

who could have thought doubling your price without any tourists will result in having no customers

those massage girls ain’t that much smarter, . In shop thai massage 100 baht but she comes to your room, uses your towels and wants 500. Mind you out 100, she only gets 40
