Yes, as I said. It is on the amber group of countries in the UK so not deemed any more risky than the likes of Germany, Sweden and many many more.

I'm not sure where you are getting this "amber group" data.  I just went to the CDC website, and Thailand is in the top (worst) category for travel, the red category.  Their recommendation for this category is "avoid travel to these countries".  (So is the UK, by the way, just to be fair.)  Can you tell me where this amber rating is from?

Cases down, but deaths up? Hmm...

2 week lag between cases and deaths is what your seeing. Unfortunately we could see the numbers of deaths rise.

I don't have a link it was a US TV news program.

The Doctor there said 20% of people in ICU die and 50% who are put on ventilation die.  They may have different protocols there for these situations but if it is similar to here yes, it seems the numbers will rise.

That's the problem with vaccine certificates. If you want to vaccine someone (i.e. your wife), you cannot use a fake name because a vaccine certificate with a real name will be needed.

He asked what % of the people that came to Thailand via sandbox scheme were tourists vs those with ties such as family, property etc

Simple question however don't think there is any data on that.

Maybe that’s why he never got an answer.

Phuket Sandbox Expands to 3 Provinces

BANGKOK, Aug 17 (TNA) – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration allowed three provinces to welcome foreign tourists from Phuket during their 14-day quarantine.

CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin said the center agreed with the Tourism and Sports Ministry’s proposal on the 7+7 program to allow foreign visitors who stayed in Phuket under the Phuket Sandbox project for seven days to visit three other southern provinces on the seven following days.

The 7+7 program took effect on Aug 16. As a result, visitors to Phuket can also travel to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao islands in Surat Thani province; Koh Phi Phi, Koh Ngai and Railay beach in Krabi province; and Khao Lak, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai in Phangnga province within their 14-day quarantine period.

In the UK an amber country is listed as a country that should only be for essential travel, not a holiday. As with everything re. Covid guidance in the UK it's a bit of a murky area. You always have to cross check with FCO country list as to whether you're insurance would be valid, the main consideration I would think

Just hit an interesting snag. I registered for the vaccine on [email protected] a while back. I'm a permanent resident so I selected the permanent resident option and included copy of passport, my alien book and the red police book. All nicely scanned, crisp and clear. I don't plan to leave Thailand so I don't have a re-entry visa.

Got an email today stating that my vaccine request cannot be processed due to lack of required visas... I can only think of 2 possible options:

1) You must have a re-entry permit even though one is not required if you don't want to leave the country

2) Perhaps it's the same as the land transport department at Chatuchak. They refused to let me re-register my car because I didn't have a visa expiry date. I explained that it's difficult for immigration to know when I will die - as a permanent resident is allowed to stay in the country for life, making a few Thai's queueing around me laugh. That didn't impress them but it made me happy.

They are not making it easy for foreigners to get vaccinated

Thailand recategorized as high-risk #COVID19

Hong Kong Lengthens Quarantines for 16 Countries

Previously, the 15 countries, which also include Malaysia, Thailand, France and the Netherlands, were classified as medium-risk, with travelers able to serve only 7 days of quarantine if they were fully vaccinated and tested positive for antibodies prior to leaving for the city.

A resurgence of coronavirus cases in these countries due to the delta variant led the to be recategorized as high high-risk and stricter measures imposed, as the government sought to “uphold the local barrier against the importation of COVID-19,” it said in a statement.

Does Thailand’s deal for 8.5 million ATKs pass the corruption test?

Thailand’s surging COVID-19 crisis has spawned a series of rumors and scandals, with the latest centered on rapid antigen test kits (ATKs). Initially touted as a tool to control COVID-19, ATKs are now viewed by many as a breeding ground for corruption.

Well there's a fair chance. Why not look into who has shares in the Chinese company and who are their mates. I've got a good idea. Sinovac springs to mind. These things are not used internationally because they're useless. Nothing to do with the health of the citizenry, the economy and the country but how full you make your pockets.

0.8% mortality - hardly the bubonic plague! I'll take those odds and get on with my life notwithstanding the Karens' hysteria

According to Johns Hopkins Medical, the worldwide mortality rate from Covid infection is 2.15%. Countries now suffering higher infection rates are moving toward that figure asymptotically.

Sorry to bust your bubble but that's not your choice to make. Authorities make that choice for you. Accept or more to somewhere where authorities have different rules.

Just a though after seeing the article photo that links to this article.

The people are suited , masked and gloved up putting coffin in vehicle. But is it actually possible to catch covid from a dead person ?
