Twenty four people were arrested during a raid on a luxury villa in Koh Samui during the early hours of Saturday morning (Aug 21).

 

Officers from Bophut Police and Surat Thani Immigration carried out the raid after receiving a tip off a party was taking place.

 

When officers went to investigate they found several motorcycles and cars parked outside and loud music coming from the property. 

 

Police said a party was being held in the basement of the villa.

Twenty four people were arrested - 11 foreigners and 13 Thais - for violating the the Emergency Decree and Communicable Disease Act put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19.

 

Police said that a French man and  Filipino woman were charged with possession of cocaine. 

 

All 24 suspects were being held at Bophut Police.

Some people here just think that laws don't matter and you can do whatever you feel like doing.  You see it in lots of posts on various forums, where this kind of behavior is almost admired by some. Thailand is not a free for all State, some need to learn that fact. This lot did.

All these episodes should contribute to best advertisement of tourist re-opening plans and sandboxes. Tourism is the business possible for the civilized countries only.

 

Thailand does not need tourism and does not deserve to be a tourist destination. Back to agriculture, Thais go farming to their sweet home Isaan.

Word is it was a neighbour who hated the noise and the infection risk in his face. After Black Bamboo Club party caused 170+ infections, many locals are far less tolerant. And a local granny just died in Bophut, so partying this weekend is in very bad taste.

But this kinda begs the question: "someone in her household". Her family or her staff? In Covid times if people want to be safe from the virus they need to either live in isolation, (without their family of their staff), or accept there is a risk that one of these people will interact (however innocently) with someone who has Covid. For this reason I and many in my condo building have dispensed with the services of personal staff, (maids, drivers etc), if these people are not live-in, (and permanently). Heard of HMS Bubble?

They isolate once they know they are positive. Samui had very few cases until it ran rampant undetected in Black Bamboo. Anyway, it is completely besides the point, she died she deserves respect not be called selfish when she did nothing wrong.
