webfact Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 Picture: Manager Manager reported that 70% of local residents in the tourist beach town of Cha-Am in Phetchaburi province have now been vaccinated against Covid-19. Local mayor Nukoon Pornsombatsiri said that this has been achieved with 15,000 doses of Sinopharm organised by the municipal authority and Astra Zeneca and Sinovac used by the Ministry of Public Health. In addition 120 foreigners had received Pfizer after registering on expatvac.consular.go.th. This is putting the resort town well on the way to reopening under the 120 day plan announced by PM Prayuth Chan-ocha that is up on October 15th. Picture: Manager Nukoon said that tourist businesses like restaurants, hotels and resorts had been targeted in the vaccination drive and certificates have been issued to businesses that have had their staff vaccinated. Individual staff at the establishments have been advised to carry around small laminated proof of their vaccination status in a bid to create confidence among tourists, he said. Manager did not report how many of the 70% had received one or two doses of vaccine, notes ASEAN NOW. Popular Post Scrotobike Posted August 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 26, 2021 Another scandalous litterbox - diverting vaccines away from the old and sick to give to an 18yo in a hotel owned by a HiSo - TIT - looking after its venerable old. 3 1

Besides if the first shot is Sinovac or Sinopharm it is very questionable if that is effective enough... 6
Popular Post Will B Good Posted August 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 26, 2021 How many received two doses of Sinovac I wonder? 3
Popular Post edwinchester Posted August 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 26, 2021 The official population of Cha-am is 50,000. 70% is 35,000 so 70,000 doses required to be administered for full vaccination. Any decent journalist would have been asking serious questions as to the apparent shortfall in jabs instead of the usual parroting and cut and paste of a press release. 5

chilly07 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 So that's where Pattaya's Sinopharm went-when will Pattaya get a look in? Thais have been waiting from mid June and keep get put off? And please cut the link to Cigna on all Covid items. To late to expect Insurance Companies to help. They don't procure Vaccines! 1
Popular Post MrJ2U Posted August 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 26, 2021 Good for them. Neat little (big) seaside place. A walk on the beach sounds so nice with the family. Problem is my wife says unless were vaccinated will have to quarantine for two weeks in our hometown in Issan when we get back. Still tempting. 2 1

I have been trying to convince mine to go to Hua Hin, but won't have a bar of it, it's not the quarantine that worries her as we are home all the time, its that 5 letter word starting with C. 1

Yes. I'm thinking like you. 5 star hotel suite. Marriotts or the newly remodeled Hilton. Walks along the beach. Room service or Grab. We need to try harder to convince our wives. 1

Stayed at the newly renovated Hilton, great place and want to go back, however pool is not open for the kids which is a downer, highly recommend otherwise and around 4,000 baht a night ATM with breakfast and taxes. 1

Great location! Can't beat those prices. Marriott is really nice also. It's hard to beat a Marriott or Hilton resort on the beach. Hua Hin has nice vibe. Why can't kids use the pool? Ive got a 7 year old girl and 2 year old boy. That'll be a deal breaker. 1

gk10012001 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 Long term effectiveness, booster jabs, delta variants and others, and other things.... Much to be determined yet.

Much nicer and easier if she's part of the plan. Enjoy your weekend. 1

I wish, but without her being vaxed, she ain't going anywhere, maybe Moderna will come good for the doses we paid and we can move forward from there. See what happens. Have a safe one.
Stargeezr Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Yes getting 1 shot of COVID vaccine does not make you totally vaccinated, however its seems to be the case with officials or TAT or the Thai government, who all desperately want to see tourists come back to Thailand. Maybe by this time in 2022, the Government, TAT and other officials will be closer to the truth, if they spout off, their words. I do enjoy a short visit to Cha AM from Hua Hin, but I will not be doing that this coming Winter. Hopefully I can do that next Winter. Geezer
