Have you changed your mind on the COVID Vaccines?

There’s plenty of evidence of entrenched views pro and against getting a COVID vaccination.

 

There’s also plenty of evidence of people trying to convince others to cross, in both directions, the pro/against line.

 

This begs the question, has anyone changed their view from pro to against or from against to pro?

For the record I have remained pro vaccine since my government’s medical advisors approved the vaccines for use (emergency or otherwise).

 

I’ve also directly assisted 6 people get registered for their vaccination all of whom were pro vaccine anyway.

 

I have had zero success convincing any of the friends I have to register who are anti-vaccine.

 

I do know of one old lady who overcame her fear of needles to get the vaccine but I personally know of no other ‘conversions’ in either direction.

Not sure why you would try to convince others what to do with their own bodies. I'm trying here in Thailand so far only acknowledgment of registration. If I can't have both before trip to US I'll wait and get them there upon arrival.

There’s more than enough online, talk radio and Faux News anti-vaccine, pro-horse medicine ‘convincing’ going on for my efforts to have any impact.

 

Which is why I focus on the people I care about and not the lunatic lost causes.

 

Good luck with your search for a vaccination, wherever you finally get it.

I have a former colleague who was pretty much anti-vcxx.  He said he had no plans to get it.  He went with his girlfriend who was getting vaccinated.   They had Pfizer and Sinovac.  His girlfriend asked for Pfizer, but was told only foreigners could get the Pfizer (at least at that location at that time).  They told her that her boyfriend could get the Pfizer, but she had to have the Chinese vaccine.  He apparently was so overwhelmed with being special enough to get the 'good' one that he took it!   Hope springs eternal.

Extremely hard to change their minds. Luckily, they'll soon be stuck at home as it's becoming harder and harder to avoid the jab. Luckily!

Fundamentally no but earlier before Delta dominance I felt I would choose to wait for a better brand if Sinovac was my only choice. But I evolved to being open to accept Sinovac as better than nothing and better than waiting. Happily I wasn't stuck with Sinovac.

I am not either a pro or anti vaxer, just was sitting on the fence to gather more information. I guess I was leaning more to not getting it for a lot longer especially if Sinovac. I live in Thailand and I am only guessing that eventually expats will need to be vaccinated to extend our visas so I was thinking I will eventually need.

 

Anyhow the other day I saw on Facebook about walk-ins at Promenada in Chiang Mai for Pfizer. I registered and walked in on the day and 2 and a half hours later I walked out with my first dose of Pfizer and due to get the second on 23rd September.

 

So I guess I did change, but not radically.

I too am registered on two sites, however waiting for them to contact me tells me that they aren't capable of handling the volumes from my experience.

 

The above said, I would strongly suggest you contact your local Provincial Health Department if you are over 60 or under 60 with pre-existing conditions as there have been a few rolling out Pfizer with great success, e.g. I got wind of this and got my 1st dose close to 2 weeks ago.

 

I also registered with the local hospital and they called me a week after my 1st dose and advised that they had Pfizer, however we advised them that I had already received mine in another province an hour up the road.

 

If you don't fit into the above category, suggest you pay for Moderna which I believe if you can and do, it will be early next year before you get a shot, that said, it beats waiting around and in the meantime if they lower the age group for Pfizer for farangs then you get Pfizer and use Moderna as a booster sometime next year by moving the injection date further back.

 

Don't sit and wait, be pro-active, i.e. if you haven't been.

When starting off with all the misinformation, I sat on the fence, not an anti-vaxer, got all my shots as a kid and my annual flu shots and Pneumonia shot + booster following year.

 

The above said, the misinformation and push by the anti-vaxers was hard, and with Professors, Dr's, Scientists, Epidemiologists, Lawyers and the like forming their own groups, it was very confusing, suffice to say I had an appointment back in June for AZ, but let that go at the peak of all the news of clots and associated/assumed deaths from AZ, add to that the misinformation for VAERS just about did my head in.

 

I booked Moderna for October back in June as a back up and allowing for more data to come through, then on the same day that the FDA approved Pfizer as a vaccine I was fortunate enough to also get my 1st jab with Pfizer, the rest is now history, although I do know that there are a lot of still brainwashed people out there, can't blame them really, but I am glad my group of friends finally got their 1st shot of Pfizer whilst they were adamant that they weren't getting jabbed.

When it comes to Sinovac, I am most definitely an antivaccinist. However, I am scheduled for my second jab of AstraZeneca on the 20th of this month and I plan on getting a booster of either Pfizer or Moderna a few months down the line.

I have the AZ but would have preferred to have avoided it altogether. 

 

I am taking Ivermectin, zinc, vitamin c,d and one a day and also have at my disposal a nebulizer with food grade h2o2 and Acetylcysteine.

I was lucky to get the Astrazenica early here in my village, because of the locals was to afraid to get it. Im 53 years, and going for the next shot now in september. 

 

I do not like vaccines, but I understand the importance to take it and not more complicated than that. Darwins fanclub of fittest of survival can continue being anti vaccines, its fine for me, but I see many of those is not in their prime of their health, so good luck.

There’s a growing body of research into anti-vaxxers and adherents to the anti vaccine conspiracy theories.

 

Intelligence and/or the lack of intelligence is not demonstrated as a predictor of anti-vaccine/conspiracy theory adherence.

 

There are however a number of personality traits, including recognized personality disorders that are demonstrated predictors of anti-vaccine/conspiracy theory adherence.

 

In my own personal experience I’ve never met an Anti-Vaxxer or Conspiracy Theory adherent who was not clearly possessed  of personality problems.

Did you get these drugs and equipment following advice of a Doctor, if not how did you conclude these drugs you are taking and/or have prepared are appropriate, effective and safe?

Nobody not totally insane would change his mind.

I am living almost 2 years with covid around but didn't get it, so there is no reason that I get it later, especially when all the "real men" are vaccinated, so I am still sure that I will never vaccinate.

Often easier to adress their problems on politicians, fake news and science than realize their struggle and complexed mental problems. All my friends & family in Oz & NZ are vaxed or in process, just like me. So - as far as I know - no conversions there.

 

However, with the exception of my b/f and 3 others whose work bases them in BKK or travelling around Thailand, my Thai Khmer family here are unvaxed and fearful. They know only village gossip which focuses on reports of death-following-vax and have no grasp of statistics. I think/hope most will move as vax becomes available to their age group but I fear for my PILs (3 & 5 years older than me & increasingly frail) ... My capacity to influence them all is minimal. B/f is the key but he seems to be struggling to make progress.

    It seems like every day another prominent anti-vaxxer in America dies of covid-19--winning a final big splash of publicity.  Some see the light too late, some deny till the bitter end.  If nothing else, with each death the anti-vax chorus might be singing a little weaker.

I wasn't in favour of the vaccine initially, because I prefer to avoid medicines / drugs / chemicals etc wherever possible. I figured as someone who is generally healthy that I would be ok if I caught Covid. However, Delta came along and it made me think. Then, a friend in the medical profession said to me that the odds are sooner or later we will all get it. He didn't add anything to that - that comment alone was enough. Having seen the terrible effect Covid has had all around the world, I figured that I'm better off being vaccinated than not - and so now I am double-jabbed.

 

Also, I feel that anyone who wishes to travel but is not vaccinated will face various challenges. Not being vaccinated will become problematic when it comes to international travel, I expect.

It makes me sad when I'm looking on social media where people "laughing" and having none compassion for people anymore who are refusing the vaccine and getting sick or dying.  This seems to be part of the new normal I guess. We lost it on our way. I think nobody wants to end up in a hospital and I understand the fear to getting vaccinated plus there is too much information on the web where everyone can spread their own opinion.

Give it another month or two and, sadly, the number of Covid deaths in New Zealand this year will likely exceed the number of deaths due to the vaccine.

The UK now seems to be accepting everyone is going to get Covid 19. They are also saying its not necessary to vaccinate kids, and that even 2 doses of the vaccine will only give about 50% protection.....oh and mass testing of people that are well will stop, they have now realised massive amounts of CASE NUMBERS do nothing but ratchet up the fear. They seem to now want to concentrate on testing sick people....blow me down with a feather!!!!
