Thailand on Tuesday (September 7) reported 13,821 new COVID-19 cases, 16,737 recoveries and 241 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

 

● 16,737 recoveries

● 13,303 new infections 

● 518 prison / prison infections

 

Tuesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,308,343 with 13,283 deaths.

 

(Total infections since April 1: 1,279,480)

 

The news comes as Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) Spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin warned Monday that new infections, which have been slowing, may surge again in mid-October because of the easing of lockdown restrictions, unless members of the public keep their guard up.

 

Dr. Taweesin expressed concern over the sight of many people crowding at the entrances of malls, waiting for them to open, saying that the virus can be easily transmitted in a crowded environment, with the consequences being seen in the next two weeks.

I guess we shall see. The roads were packed this morning again and as I walked to lumpini park there were many vendors out with people queuing up to buy food for the morning.  Let's hope the numbers represent a modest amount of truth. 

 

Prison numbers keep growing however.

PCR test positive cases, total of 13,821 official new infections, with 518 of those from prison and just 13,303 from the community. 241 official covid deaths recorded.

Chonburi Public Health Office is reporting 718 new cases today and 7 more deaths. Most new cases are in Chonburi City (265), Bang Lamung/Pattaya (104), and Si Racha (122). There are 13,722 patients in care #COVID19 #โควิดวันนี้ #Thailand

Just when I thought we would have a gap of a few days another death brings it to 8 dead in just 3 days in Phuket, where the health authorities there said yesterday that Sinovac is not able to stop the spread there.

It had me puzzled for some time, as you would assume a prison could easily be segregated.

Having a chat with the mother of an English lad in Bang Kwang, there is apparently no effort whatsoever being taken to do so.

The guards have apparently withdrawn from the inner part of the jail, allowing a complete free for all with prisoners in complete control.

Essentially the prison numbers of infected jails are likely to equal the entire inmate population sooner or later.

Dont think the roads are that busy, just got into Central World all the way from Pattaya, 1 hour 35 mins. Absolute breeze! Normally over 2 hours in other times.

Spreading should be expected though as none of the vaccines can prevent this.   The crucial question is it vaccinated or unvaccinated people dying and/or in hospital there?   Do we know? 

Not that I believe these numbers, never have...But it seems that postivity rate is falling, it was nearly 50% at its peak and now around at 29%, if numbers are real, anyways, it is very high.

 

But time to move on.

We all know the vaccines do not prevent this but the whole point is that Sinovac is the least effective at preventing spread, thats why Phuket is already giving boosters and will be giving boosters to all those who received 2 shots of Sinovac.

 

Nobody apart from the health authorities know the stats on vaccination status of those hospitalized or who have died. Maybe at some point they will decide that this vital piece of information is worthy to share with the general public.

Correct, I only have seen just the story from the TNN Channel 16 news yesterday regarding the Phuket talad closure and the 711 positive ATK tests, seems like they might be trying to hide it just like they are doing with the bubble and sealed factories and such.   Why has there not been any updates, and that includes on the Thai news as well as in the Thai papers.  Some folks believe that we do not peruse those either and source our information only from the English translated articles or news pieces, which is by and far not even close to where I get all of my info from.

Try around the Business and Banking districts here in Sathorn.  Rama 4 Road was packed and is still packed same with Sathorn Thai Rd, and Silom.  MRT exit at Lumpini near the Q house is packed with people exiting the station and standing in que at those food vendors as well.  Moto Taxi Que doing a good business as well. Freeway is also fairly busy from my perch, where last week at this time it was pretty empty..

As I have posted before, in easy terms, the deaths are from infections of up to 2 weeks ago, not from the infections today. So, there will always be a lag in numbers of deaths.

Very nice graphs for ATK's...It would be interesting to see a similar graph, made in Pattaya, for example, for chlamydia home tests...

Actually, they do. Deaths lag new infections by some days.

Indeed. That’s the nub of it. Those saying Thailand’s numbers are low compared with western nations (that includes myopic government) only go by figures released and not the percentages, oddly failing to take into consideration testing rate etc. Test a million a day instead of sub-50000 (rolls eyes), what will you get?
