I hope it is well reported in all countries that potential tourists come from! The global insurance market will for sure be making special calculations for the new special Thai regulations. I hope they take a normal insurance policy, increase it by 100% and list this extra as a 'Special Thailand dual pricing surcharge' then wait and see how long it takes for the changes to come. 1

HappyExpat57
I don't know why this hit me so hard, but it really is an ultimate "Screw You Farang. You don't like it? Leave!" OK then, making plans to leave since you think so little of those who are really the only ones supporting your crippled economy in the tourist areas.

Let the gouging continue and expand into every possible industry. How long before we see dual pricing for airline flights, hotels, special extra taxes for foreigners, etc, etc? There is already dual pricing for hotels/holiday packages, when these are given out on an ad hoc basis. The vaccine rollout to foreigners has been the supreme example of the lack of human rights to residents of Thailand. It has been an exercise in great humiliation, which is an important reminder, so that one never relaxes and feels welcome in this country because of its systemic xenophobia. 1 hour ago, Neeranam said: Foreigners have no rights under the Constitution. Popular Post spidermike007
If anyone had any doubts at all, about the impartiality of the Thai judiciary, this should eliminate those doubts. They are simply doing the bidding of their masters. And the reputation of the Thai judiciary cannot really suffer from this, as it was already considered to be on the level of a mock court, lacking any credibility, worldwide. And they keep ranting on and on and on about wanting to attract wealthy ex-pats. Well, let us just add this to this current top 20 list, of reasons why not to retire here. DjSilver
Thai courts and the entire Thai legal system is xenophobic and highly incompetent. Even a law student that is in the end of their studies is more competent the a judge in thr Supreme court of Thailand.

xtrnuno41
Obviously the court is not impartial. It directs with its verdict to Thailand's economy and not to the discrimination.. Now many Thai can do dual pricing, if not already done and it is ok. Could it be a revenge action? After all USA and Europe were ordering Thailand should change and do more, for instance, about trafficking. They would be punished (by cutting in investments by the governments of USA and Europe). Loosing face, as they were ordered, but in own country can make decisions in other matters, as dual prices allowing. However a court should be impartial, but is it really? If you are rich, you can buy a very good lawyer which gets the things done and you could walk away, even if guilty. Now Thai court just say: Shut up ! You are farang. Will mr. Buse fight it with international laws and treaties Thailand agreed? I sure admire the guy doing this, as fighting institutions, it is fighting windmills. In mr Buse former country, there are issues going on, which leaves you flabbergasted. So Thailand doing the same? Im not surprised.

Sydebolle
Perfect news for Al Jazeera and other Middle Eastern countries which have fed the Thai healthcare with billions of Baht every year. This - note well - is a clear statement on how the superior Thai semi-divine pr1cks and 1d1ots running the country and the courts are thinking. The reasoning is of particular interest - a total admission of inferiority ............

Foreigners (unless they are paying tax) should pay a higher price. I don't see a problem with that. For goods and services that are NOT publicly subsidized it should be the same price. We all pay taxes, going to the market you are paying the same tax as any Thai, not many Thais pay income tax because they do not make enough. Some of us pay tax on our dividends and bank interest which a lot of Thais do not pay. Using the they pay taxes is a non starter.
Markus Rider
the question remains what it's better for the country in the long run: to have foreigners in the country who like to live and spend their vacation there or if it is good to rip them off
Popular Post andux
Institutionalized racism is just part of Thailand, and unfortunately things are not going to change anytime soon. It's very interesting to see how 'foreigner' implies more money and English speaking, which again shows the lack of general culture of that court/judge. Many Western countries have weak economies and currencies weaker than the baht, plus many foreigners also speak fluent Thai and don't need 'highly trained English-speaking personnel'.

Hummin
There is unfair for those who pay tax to Thailand, and that is two groups, expats who retire and choose to pay tax (get less tax back home), and those who work and pay tax. Those who do not pay tax, what do you really complain about?
