PHUKET: Phuket City Police have arrested a bar owner on the outskirts of Phuket Town for breach of the provincial order regulating the opening of places at risk of spreading COVID-19 after he was caught selling alcohol after 10pm.

The arrest was made under the direction of Phuket City Police Superintendent Col Theerawat Liamsuwan, said a report released by Phuket City Police.

I will never understand why so many rules here are based on the clock, when all I can see is that the clock is such a foreign concept for Thai people. In 5 minutes. In 10 minutes. Oh well, appears it meant in an hour or so. I never rely on a time given by a Thai person. And then here comes all these rules.... Between 11 am and 2 pm. Why? How is that helping in making a better society, or how is this making Thailand safer, or how is this making Thai people more sober? or how?....... Words fail me now...

If you read the OP you'll see he was charged with selling alcohol by restaurants after 10.00 PM

Since when are BARS allowed to open again ? Thought restaurants only...

Many bars serve food and operate under a restaurant licence.

There are no bars..........now only have restaurants

This is huge..... Until 10 PM.... they can legally sell booze.

But at 10PM01 the virus suddendly comes back. Watchout !

All those headlines are perfect....

People around the world are baffled... and won't come to Thailand.

if you read the post again its ambiguous, the way it reads is that bars are allowed to sell alcohol but not after 10.

It said bar owner, not restaurateur owner. Semantics but confusing to be fair.

Read the OP, follow the link, that's why it's there. And there you'll see it all is perfectly clear. It involves a bar that is officially a restaurant.

I did, if you read the title in huge lettering it says "BAR OWNER' and the opening line is 'Phuket City Police have arrested a bar owner' thats why its confusing.

Thanks for confirming you didn't read the link to clear things up for you.

I did, nowhere does it state its a bar that's officially a restaurant, in fact nowhere in the article is the word restaurant mentioned.

Tend to agree with you. The whole sandbox thing is a little confusing. Heard some bars in Bangla opened up on their own accord?

customers must have been Thai

if foreign it would be them arrested and a wai from the owner

Either he is leaning to his right, or the conduit coming from the switch is drunk.

Can a bar sell beer all day until 10.00pm   ?

Majority of potential tourists does not read Thai local news.

Most of them have no clue regarding what is really going on before landing.

So what don't you understand from this in the link from the OP?

"Specifically, Yuttana was charged for violating Article 4 (2) of the order, which mandates that food or beverage outlets are permitted to sell alcohol and allow drinking on the premises but no later than 10pm."

I dont claim to understand anything, hence the reason I said the article was ambiguous and confusing?

Understand?

Apparently if you read the article, all will become clear. At least that is what I was told ????
