Popular Post webfact
By Kristin Mariano TD Editor Great news for UK travellers as Thailand is off the red list, which means fully vaccinated travellers arriving in the UK from green list countries no longer need to do a pre-departure test, but must still book and pay for a day two PCR test. “After much speculation this week we are so happy to see Thailand come off the UK’s travel red list. It’s a very timely boost for Thailand’s travel industry. We’re heading into peak season with our best weather ahead, particularly along the Andaman coast and insights from our UK tour operators tells us there is huge interest in travel to Thailand and 1,000’s of postponed holidays set to be rebooked both for immediate winter sun getaways and departures in 2022. Today’s announcement gives travellers the much-needed confidence to (re)make travel plans” said Ms. Chiravadee Khunsub, director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), UK & Ireland. Sandbox success This is a key moment for Thailand as it has been open to international travellers, including the UK & Ireland, since 1st July under a ‘Sandbox’ initiative which has proven very successful. To date, 41,000 travellers have arrived in Phuket alone with just 135 positive Covid-19 cases detected proving to visitors and locals alike that it is safe to return to international travel. “One of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations (welcoming around 1 million Brits per year pre-Covid-19) this is really positive news for the Thai tourism industry and has given us much hope for a positive end to the year” added Khunsub. Popular Post lujanit
I wish TAT would continue their classification as all people entering Thailand as arrivals instead of tourists as per their stance before covid. It took a long time after much criticism to change from 'tourists' to arrivals now it is back to everyone who arrives is a tourist. According to TAT no person coming back to their family and Thais returning has re-entered. BS. Desperation for large numbers from TAT. Just plain lies in their numbers. 32
Popular Post Gold Star
Perhaps Thailand should tell the Thai embassy in the UK to open up so that people that want to come here can get visas. My friend has been trying but they are closed last I heard. 9
Popular Post RichardColeman
In the UK , and they are really making a hoo-ha of Thailand not being on the red list any more, but they are completely ignoring the mad demands to get there which are not in any current brochure ! Book at your own risk. Hopefully they will end this nonsense in the coming weeks 26

Popular Post smedly
yet another stupid post from who exactly Thailand is not open - no country is on their "green List" because they don't have one Why are they still not getting this small detail which is so blatantly obvious and 41k arrivals since July is trivial - I will bet at least that number will be leaving for the UK and Europe over the next couple of weeks 18

And, from recent experience, if you contact TAT and ask them for information or ask them who to contact about travel inside Thailand on arrival from abroad, they don't know. After 2 days of waiting they sent a facebook message confirming they don't know and suggested I call the Thai embassy in my departure country and ask them who to contact. I can't believe they don't know which agency to contact inside Thailand for this info. Very poor service indeed. 8
Popular Post pollyog
Big deal! My family and friends still won't be coming, not until they can come straight to my house and not have to do a compulsory 7-day stay in a sandpit hotel! Alcohol back in restaurants and opening bars and massage parlours would also help tourism considerably, but our dumb government and TAT doesn't think of all the other consequences, they just assume that Brits are waiting with their suitcases packed to come to what is still virtually a ghost town of a country! 29 7

Popular Post CrunchWrapSupreme
And now, the burning question, the elephant in the room, if you will... CAN WE GO OUT TO DRINK YET??? ???? I see the UK mentioned a lot in that press release. I know those blokes like to drink. Blimey, I reckon they'll be rather cross if they arrive to find the pubs still shut. 6

Popular Post Bkk Brian
Yes of course its open, its also....................... Thailand: the country with the most complicated entry restrictions on Earth Be warned that the required ‘certificate of entry’ is more extensive than the Passenger Locator Forms you may be used to, requiring applicants to upload travel insurance details, vaccination proof, testing payment proof, hotel reservations, plane tickets and passport details. A quick internet search reveals angry travellers describing the form as “complicated”, with one Facebook user saying they “gave up”. However, while holidays to Thailand are now feasible, they are far from straightforward. Tourists must travel directly to a small number of 'sandbox' destinations (generally islands), staying there for seven days before being able to travel elsewhere in the country. https://uk.style.yahoo.com/thailand-country-most-complicated-entry-130813731.html Edited October 9, 2021 by Bkk Brian 21 1

Popular Post Oxx
Of course, the sandbox requirements include "You must have been in your departure origin country for at least 21 days". Utterly useless for anyone wanting to make a trip to the UK and return to Thailand, unless they want to go away for more than 3 weeks. 2

Popular Post elcaro
How can TAT say the country is open when there are curfews, alcohol bans, bar closures, strict mask mandates, and an emergency decree that makes it possible for laws and regulations to change overnight. 13

Sure yes, it is open for people who do not need to stay up late, do not need or have to go to bars and drink, and those with common sense who realize wearing a mask may actually do some good. 2 1 1

Love it... return to UK after a holiday and no quarantine required, maybe the UK foreign affairs office or even the UK ambassador in Thailand could ask Thailand to do the same for UK residents traveling to Thailand from UK. Stop the scam.

But sure mate, invite your family and friends to come and visit while wearing their mask on the beach while swimming. Popular Post Oxx
Isn't it still the case that if you're on a flight with someone who tests positive for Covid that you are forced into hospital quarantine, even if fully vaccinated?
internationalism
"travellers arriving in the UK from green list countries no longer need to do a pre-departure test, but must still book and pay for a day two PCR test." but all airlines require tests before boarding their planes.
