4 days no sugar

No cheese, no more meat for dinner and I feel great. I really have a sugar addiction and it's hard to quit once inside a shopping mall with all those cakes. I'm scared I will relapse due to lack of self control. 

 

I'm starting to think that 8 years ago I started my life in Thailand completely wrong. The buffets, the pizzas, the awful japanese food suki and grills, the hotel lounges with unlimited pastries and cheese ....

 

I now see that the less I spend on food the better I feel. It's quite amazing. I can breathe at night which I couldn't due to reflux. Every morning I'd wake up with bad breath. it's fine now. Only after 4 days. Yep ...it's all sugar.

Yes, the no sugar certainly makes a difference, and you dont realise how addicted you are until you stop.

I wouldn't give up the protein (meat, cheese) as well. That's the whole idea of low carb, keto diets. Eat mostly fat and proteins, little to no carbs.

I think most guy just lost track of the concept to eat balanced food. Most people who get that can live a good life eating what they like.

Cheese and meats are good keep high protein is better.

Sugar is the most addictive substance on earth terrible it kills many more people then Covid should be banned permanently worldwide.

Sugar isn't the enemy it's the junk you eat, the stuff you buy is full of fat, chocolate, cake, pastries, ice cream, crisps, biscuits, nuts. It's important you understand the difference

Oh good. I was just thinking if I should have a tablespoon of white sugar for breakfast or not.

Moderation is the key.  I eat what ever I want, when I want, although do know to put limits on some things.  Actually, do most of my own cooking, usually from scratch (baking) so control intake amounts of sugar & salt mainly.  So enjoy a few less healthy pleasures, but in moderation.  Not anti anything, but know not to overdo any one food group, except veggies, as don't think you can eat too much of them.

 

Once you do that, and then buy restaurant / store bought prepared foods, you notice immediately the extra content of sugar & salt they use.  Sometimes, way OTT.  After a short learning curve, you become a much better cook than the so called 'chefs'.

And how crazy is that? Why in the world should you ban sugar? it´s a perfect addition to many things regarding cooking and baking. It´s the easiest thing in the worls to not take more than 1 piece of sugar in the coffee or none at all. People should drink coffee because they like it, not because they love sugar. That´s just one example out of many.

 

After that you have all the coke, fanta and sprite that must be drunk all the time or given to children at low age. Why, have people forgot how good and lovely it is with a glas of cold water?

You are talking about banning the products, just because people can´t control their sugar intake. Really??? I think it´s time to grow some balls, say no to to much a show some self-control. What´s next? Are you going to ban food totally just because some people get fat? Maybe forbid the use of water because people are drowning every year? Just tell me your great concept for the people and the planet.

Yes, what people of today do not realize, is that it has to do with the combination of what they consume. Not blaming one single ingredient. For example sugar binds fat.

Dead right Sir.  Its a pity that more people don't do the research before they start screwing with their diet.  U Tube is full of really good advice.

Just stop "pigging-out" on rubbish and eat a balanced daily diet each day, no need to give-up anything.

Not at all! We ALL start that way. Eventually those of us who grow weary of  the burgeoning buttocks and trouble finding stores that sell clothing in our size cut back.

 

I developed diabetes about 5 years ago and had to do a serious inventory of my lifestyle. Diet, exercise, and an occasional small sweet has led me to a life in better balance. And I haven't bought a sack of sugar since.

Sugar isn't the bad guy, or even fattening, 1 tsp / 16 calories.  Too much may be an issue with some folks.  As with everything.

Gotta disagree about the sugar. PROCESSED sugar is really bad. Arnold called it "white death."

 

I found Lazada sells pure powdered Stevia. It's a pungent sweetener, very little goes a long way, and it's a natural, healthy product.

And believe it or not, Thailand is not just a massive grower of Sugar Cane, but also on of the Worlds largest Importers of Sugar.

They just cant get enough of the stuff.

Since I've lived here I have: Stopped smoking, stopped taking sugar, use only skimmed milk & only use sea salt and that very sparingly, never use salt when cooking pasta or potatoes or put it on my food,
