A recent CNN report has outlined a criminal plot by a group of Thais who have exported second-hand and used gloves to the United States for money.

The government has denied any involvement but the national embarrassment is done. It was not the government but it was a bunch of crooks, the commerce minister said on Monday.

“Since there is a high demand of rubber gloves from the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a group of crooks that illegally imported and exported them,” said Jurin Laksanawisit after the cabinet meeting.

National embarrassment or just the norm for Thailand? ????

No national embarassment no... embarassment would require one to have manners, ethics and "have a face" to begin with of which the Thais have neither.

I hope the USA demands a full investigation and not accept this to be swept under the carpet

like so many other things.

Normally investigations go as far as they are allowed to go and some minor people

are sacrificed.

Dig deep!Follow the money all the way to the end.

I'd bet the OA visa holders are behind this hideous plot. Starting next year all OA visa extensions must be accompanied by a insurance policy against fraudulent gloves, available at your local insuance company for a smalll fee

Try to post something out of the country that is not on the allowed lists and you'll get the big " Mai Dai" shrug, and here we have bunch of people who export those used contaminated gloves to the US no less and to do that you need the help of more than the usual small fry of crocks...

Not surprising. I am sure that the Thai company involved thought "if the US was stupid enough to donate money and free vaccines, the US would be dumb enough to fall for this". It will be interesting to see how they spin this.

I wonder where those gloves has been used.

Gyno, pharmaceutical industry, surgery, dentist, covid testing, tattoo artists etc etc?

There are so many businesses that rely on sterile rubber gloves to protect the products or patients, so in worst case scenarios these used rubber gloves could have caused someones death.

I hope the ones involved are locked up for a long time.

I don't believe that nobody high up new about this.

It is forbidden to export gloves and it was a very high quantity.

Some high ranking people have their hands again in this pie.

No need to say anything.

Those responsible for this stated:

"well since there are no tourists here to scam, we had to scam them in their own country". If thailand was open for tourists, we never would have had to do this, so it really isnt our fault"
