Covid testing in Pattaya, Restaurants and everywhere else....

I thought starting a thread on what's going on with this new testing in Pattaya would be good.....Because this could affect a lot of people..

I have not yet been asked to be tested myself...

Well that just knocked my post New Year trip in the head.

Going along Beach Rd, 2nd Rd and Soi Buakhao this lunchtime and plenty people sat in bars, restaurants and cafes drinking beer. Were they tested first? I doubt it; I saw nothing to suggest testing before entering the premises.

I find it difficult to see how these new rules are going to be enforced. There isn't enough manpower nor the will.

Hope this bars would be closed.ASAP.Im shocked about some people dont give a s.....

I remember after he tsunami people si and party in bangla road in phuket.They smiled and said life must go on.(foreigners)This was on the news worldwide.

Entered a decent restaurant in North Pattaya yesterday evening and enquired about this ne procedure. The first lady did not understand me and the second said 'ATK, what ATK', 'we do not know ATK', 'please come in'...

In a restaurant now - 50 m from the Chonburi government offices - no tests.

 

But it's an open air restaurant, so risks must be very low.

 

Ordered some test kits on line, but looks like I may not need them.

No problems here. I went to several places (restaurant, bar, GC) and got tested no where.

Nobody was wearing masks either. It will all blow over mates.

Yes there is the reaction, one of ignorance in both senses.

     My partner and I ate at a well-known large chain restaurant at Big C Extra last evening.  We were not asked for the covid test, nor were we even asked to show proof of vaccination.

Out last night and saw a testing station. 

 

GF, who has been feeling a little under the weather for a week or so, went for a test...positive.  Advised to go home,  self isolate and contact hospital if conditions worsen.  Retest in three days. 

 

Since we live together, though I better test too, though a little worried that if positive will be whisked off for comulsory stay at my expense even though feeling fine.  I test negative.  aksed what would have happened if positive and given same stay at home unless feeling veyr unwell advice  Maybe I have had it, maybe I am lucky, maybe the AZ/Pfizer combo I have had has protected me.  Dunno.  But at least they are giving people the option to keep themselves and others as safe as they can while maintaining as much normality as they can...

 

Compare and contrast with, for example, Florida where the State has removed testing (no tests=no covid I recall people on here saying), or the UK where several NHS Trusts are reposting critical condistions because of staff shortages. 

 

So for those who actually care that we can keep as many businesses open, have a test.  It is quick, painless and easy and if we can dampen the spread (which is all we need to do) by those who are positive isolating until they are well then we will minimise the disruption and those who are more vulnerable.

Went to a restaurant on Sunday, no mention of any tests. Was it a New Year joke? The problem is some potential tourists may think they were serious and cancel, i know i would.

Not yet being enforced in Jomtien anywhere around the beach area. Have been in quite a few and observed others entering many others and no tests results being asked to be shown. The owners and managers KNOW that the customers would do a 180 and spend their money elsewhere. Even asked a restaurant owner buddy about it and he said it's too much to ask of customers and commiting financial suicide if they enforce it. 

 

For now seems it's simply being ignored...which I fully agree with. ????????

Why did you even go out in the first place if your gf was feeling ill???

 

Wouldn't it at least have been wise to test at home first, before potentially going on a spreading spree?

I am fairly sure there will be many Farang bricking it in Pattaya right now.

They will all have to a negative test prior to flying back to their relative Countries, and some could be finding themselves having to stay a few Days longer than planned.

I agree, and they'll be PCR's that are required so tested at expesive hospitals, i'm sure they will have to spend their extra days there and not at hotels....

I will not be going anywhere near Pattaya for the foreseeable future. I do test myself now and again as the 7/11 kits are only 49 bht now.

Give it time - they're probably concentrating on getting the motorcyclists to wear helmets first!

no reason to be s.h.i.t. scared now! I have a byrd in Patty and whenever we are together she just orders all the food and drinks we need, great house party. And the pool and beach are no danger

Why haven’t supermarket, bank, fresh food market etc employees not been asked to test everyday like wise customers, they have as much close contact in fact in the fresh food markets it can be

This isn’t law only an order so unless the Police go round every ‘restaurant’ it is unenforceable, if they really mean business let’s make make it mandatory for everyone to have a test before stepping outside the door !

Testing will most likely only be enforced (maybe) at the places they want gone like bars and clubs...

The Thai hazmat gang was doing rapid tests at 4 pm at the entrance to Walking Street yesterday. Today no white suits or testing, same time.

Why all this ‘mass’ testing nearly into 2 years living with Covid, I don’t recall groups going round testing people last year ?

That hazmat suit thing is nothing but theater.......I did not see the ladys giving out vax jabs wearing hazmat suits.......I see no one wearing them anywhere except at street testing sites and airports...

Can you legally be stopped & tested when going about your business in Thailand?

I saw a news report that there is a police unit doing this in London where they have rights to do that.
