A story reported on by Thai Rath had all the elements of the "lawless Thailand" playbook.

 

A very wealthy "sia" and owner of a seafood business called Seksan had been drinking with his mate Banyat and both were drunk.

 

Seksan decided to go and pay a rival called Kamnan Jeans a visit after the pair argued over a women.

 

So he got in his Jaguar F-Type and drove off to the municipal offices on Sunday afternoon.

 

He was tooled up with an M-16 war weapon ready for the confrontation with the kamnan, a local official.

 

He got out of the Jaguar but unfortunately was hit by a passing motorcyclist. 

 

The gun went flying. The motorcyclist  fearing he would be shot fled the scene.

 

Banyat collected up the gun.

 

Ban Laem police recovered the gun from the front passenger seat of the Jaguar and found bloodstains all down the middle of the road, apparently Seksan's blood.

 

Sneakers were also found at the scene.

 

Seksan was detained while still in hospital.

 

His mate Banyat is also in custody.

Police are now actively looking for the motorcyclist to charge him with a traffic offence.

If it was 'normal' it would not be newsworthy! The only time I've been shot at was Pakistan in 74 in Peshawar which makes the wild west look like a quaker convention. A hotel manager with a Berrata. Missed but scared the horse. The second time was 3 months later in Afghanistan in the night a pot shot from a long gun. Thailand  has loads of guns but I rarely  see them except on the range thankfully. To be honest gun rampages are far more common in the USA than Thailand but such facts get in the way of the Thai  basher narrative. The spy and writer  John Le Carrie described Thais as 'perfect assassins'

Why were a pair of Jeans arguing over a women ? Sneakers were found at the scene. sounds more like a fashion show.
