Danish Sonny Rasmussen has served four and a half years in a Thai prison and four years in a Danish prison and has just been released now although he got a Royal pardon from Thailand six months ago. Media TV2 writes that only when they stepped into the matter, something happened.

The story begins back in 2013 when then 63-year-old Sonny Rasmussen from Vesterbro in Copenhagen was caught with 70 grams of heroin in Thailand. After retiring as a sheet metal worker, he often went to Thailand where he, according to himself, got involved in some dirty business and was caught with illegal drugs.

He was sentenced to 25 years, a month, and nine days in prison for the crime. He served four and a half years in the Thai Klong Prem prison before being transferred to a Danish prison. On 24 June 2017, he had his sentence changed to 16 years imprisonment in the Copenhagen City Court.

Was a Royal Pardon from thailand really instrumental in being released after ~ 5 years on a 16 year sentence in Denmark?

Imagine a Danish prison is getting better reviews than Khlong Prem on jailbooking.com

Is the article meant to invoke compassion for this drug dealing expat ?

He has been in the brown stuff long enough now go careful in the snow ????

Well, as a Thai citizen he might have made it all the way to an MP status ........ Just hope he learnt a lesson!

He probably waited in a hotel

I'm from Denmark and i think they should have kept him for the full sentence.

Heroin in Thailand.

Is he retarded or what.

Do the crime, do the time....

A completely idiot and he need to stay behind iron bars.

Don't send him to Denmark.

Our prisons are filled to the brink with foreign drug dealers.....

We don't even have room for ordinary prisoners now in the open prisons, so people have to wait to be able to get inside a prison to serve their time.

25, to 16, to 8 years. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Read up on the "<deleted> Stop" bar in Pattaya affair. Aussie owner and his Thai wife also served 4 years in prison, just released last year, narrrowly escaping a death sentence for meth trafficking. But his friend wasn't so lucky, murdered by a rival gang.

The case began in 2013 fully caused by Sonny Rasmussen's own act that he has confessed. He is lucky the he is from a country that has an agreement with transfer possibility, and he lucky to have his sentence lowered to 16 years by a Danish Court, and he is even more lucky to receive royal pardon. 70 gram of heroin seems to be way more than needed for a personal drug addict. I have no sympathy for fellow countrymen involved drug business, and no sympathy for he had to wait a few more extra month in a prison, which many foreigners considers like a many-star hotel.

Yes

And the typical danish/scandinavian desperate desire to be validated/seen by the others "look at us, we are so cool, please praise our countries" kind of thing.
