If the US or a NATO country gives Ukraine weapons capable of attacking the Russian land eg Moscow, it would be regarded by Russia as an attack by the US or NATO. That's why they have not done so. Any attack by Ukraine on Russia would have to be with their own weapons.

Does anyone seriously think Putin is going to "end the war"? The only way the war will end without a Ukrainian surrender, IMO, is if Putin is no longer in charge. It took a change of leader to end Russian involvement in Afghanistan.

IMO Putin has gone too far to back off now.

Who said anything about striking Moscow? Ukraine needs to strike within Russia at the locations that Russia is launching missiles and airfields that Russia uses for its attacks on Ukraine civilian infrastructure. Ukraine needs to stop Russia with its war crimes. Its  doing that to the best of its ability right now within Russia with the strikes that it already does but much more is needed.

The war will end when Putin is defeated, talks are held because of his concessions and his troops out of Ukraine territory.

Ukraine war: Putin should face trial this year, says top lawyer

Russian President Vladimir Putin should go on trial in Ukraine this year for war crimes committed there, says the man who led the prosecution of former Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic.

Sir Geoffrey Nice told the BBC Mr Putin was a "guilty man" for attacks on civilian targets during the war.

The British barrister expressed his surprise that prosecutors and politicians were not "spelling this out much more freely and openly".

Someone said the Russians are stupid to keep all their forces together in one place as things like this can happen. But someone else replied saying if they were split into small groups they'd all do runners, not enough commanders to watch over them!

A very large majority of Ukrainians (89% of Ukrainian speaking, 76% of Russian speaking) said they opposed territorial concessions to Russia.

Alleged Ukrainian strike appears to kill large number of Russian troops housed next to ammunition cache

An apparent Ukrainian strike in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine appears to have killed a large number of Russian troops housed next to an ammunition cache, according to the Ukrainian military, pro-Russian military bloggers and former officials.

According to both Ukrainian and pro-Russian accounts, the strike took place just after midnight on Sunday, New Year’s Day, on a vocational school housing Russian conscripts in Makiivka, in the Donetsk region.

The attack has led to vocal criticism of the Russian military from pro-Russian military bloggers, who claimed that the troops lacked protection and were reportedly being quartered next to a large cache of ammunition, which is said to have exploded when Ukrainian HIMARS rockets hit the school.

They won't invade any NATO or country with a treaty with the west.

If they want to invade Afghanistan by all means do so.

They tried Afghanistan decades ago got thrown out, perhaps because the Taliban are "not  an army" as such, they may succeed for a while, but not longer term IMHO

‘Every house a fortress’: Wagner leader counts cost as Russia stalls in Bakhmut

Grim footage shows Yevgeny Prigozhin visiting basement filled with dead fighters near Ukraine’s eastern front

The head of the Russian Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has said his fighters have sometimes spent weeks attempting to capture a single house in the key contested Donbas city of Bakhmut, in the latest evidence of how the Kremlin’s efforts there have stalled.

In a grim video released over new year, Prigozhin – a key ally of Putin – was filmed visiting a basement near the eastern front filled with the bodies of his fighters, many of them convicts, who had been killed during the bitter fighting for the city, a key Russian objective since the summer.

In the makeshift morgue, Prigozhin is seen being shown bodies on stretchers and in body bags. One pile of bagged bodies can be seen stacked shoulder-high in the corner of one of the rooms.

The Russian military's top brass is under increasing scrutiny as more details emerge of how at least 89 Russian soldiers, and possibly many more, were killed in a Ukrainian artillery attack on a single building.
The scene last weekend in the Russian-held eastern Ukrainian town of Makiivka, where the soldiers were temporarily stationed, appears to have been a recipe for disaster.

Police: 25 torture chambers discovered in liberated areas of Kharkiv Oblast:

Moscow’s systematic war of terror in Ukraine. Expect many more of these torture chambers to be discovered as Ukraine liberates more of its territory. The USA and EU need to step up their military aid to Ukraine and deliver the kind of serious weaponry that will enable Ukraine to kick Russia out of their country and end this nightmare once and for all.

I disagree with that. If the US declare Russia a terrorist state, it will have massive consequences for India who is still dealing with Russia for cheap energy.

The US is doing the right thing, by training and supplying the Ukrainian military. The war is the greatest road show every with minced orc meat as the icing.
