Look at the UN. All countries make a Statement against Putin.

Thailand stould make an official Statement as well.

Such important International crisis and the Thai government stays quiet.

● Money-transfer difficulties and flight cancellations following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have shaken Thai tour operators

● Russians were the largest group of visitors to the kingdom in January and some 1.5 million of them came in 2019 and spent US$3.3 billion

Not to worry, along with the Indians, the Saudis (inshallah) will be coming by the tens....if not hundreds ????

I can not help but wonder if EU arrivals will not be affected by the war? as Russia closed its airspace it does mean many routes have to go around, adding 2-3 hour of flying time, which means more fuel and also means higher cost in addition to oil prices already being sky high

I am wondering when the authorities will start appreciating the money that is getting fed into the Thai economy by people who decided to retire here after starting off as tourists.

I won't hold my breath, though.

I assume that the market will soon be flooded with condos from Russians, whos only way to get cash is to liquidate their assets in Thailand.

By the way, flight routes to bkk from Moscow are clear, only the money issue is the snag. Thailand ,can you extend them credit facilities till the sanction is lifted?

So you are saying that it is still possible for Russians to fly here and to fly home.

Thank you, wasn't too clear on that.

Yes, all Russian flights are OK to fly here.   Constraint is flying over EU air space which isn't applicable.

There is no morality within the Thai government. All they are concerned with is exporting to Russia and attracting rich Russian tourists. Money is the only thing they worry about!

China invading Taiwan???

Why not? The West have proven they will not interfere in an oppressive country invading a weaker country! Old Sleepy Joe may dither a bit but won't do anything; the EU won't do anything as it may mean it will affect trade; the UK will shout a bit but are too weak to have any effect; Japan will condemn them but is as weak as the UK, USA, and EU!

Thailand and all the African countries that are beholden to China won't speak out as they've sold themselves to China!

China has taken over as the main manufacturer in the world -- our manufacturing bases have been destroyed due to the inability to compete with cheaper prices -- and greed and lack of forethought by our governments!

We can't object (much) to China's invasion of Taiwan other than apply some wishy-washy sanctions as we rely on them too heavily for their goods!

**** Thailand /TAT and everyone who is just focussing on tourist numbers in a situation like that! Thailand should be happy that their country is not important at all in the global context! If they would be important and global media would catch up about their disgusting approach of not distancing themselves from the Russian governemnt, tourists of many nations would boycott to spend their holidays in LOS.

Nothing more to add!

Taiwan is not the same.

There is an implicit agreement that the US will defend Taiwan though for the sake of diplomacy not in writing.

Ukraine not being in NATO has no similar promises.

The US leader's name is Joe.Biden.

Yes, let's put Thailand's self inflicted tourism problem on a scale with the war crimes Russia is committing in Ukraine. ????

Phuket is chock full of them...don't know how they'll pay for anything soon with currency exchanges not changing "rubbles," their Russian bank ATM/credit cards stop working, and SWIFT no longer available for money transfers. I'm hoping for some condo fire sales for needed cash.

Oh, I'm sure if you ask nicely Putin will send you an apology for the inconvenience his war has caused Thai tourism..and the suffering Ukrainians will thinking of Thailand's desperate plight. This government cares not about its own people so why should it care about others.

This news made my day. Two odious regimes that only care about $$$.

Let's hope some of the hotter Russian girls find 'work' down Bangla Road.

Finally, the sanctions are starting to bite! Russians here without money will be okay, just contact the local Russian mafia for a loan.

The Russian people are paying the price because of their government’s actions.  A large number  of the citizens in Russia are against the invasion .

No it is not. this is all part of the rush to green, follow the money. BTW exactly what kind of energy is used to produce electricity for EV? And what is going to happen to the expended dead batteries?
