Strange that, I've always been under the impression that he is hounded because he (1) left the scene of a crime (which in my book makes him a coward), (2) tried to use a member of staff as an escape goat (which in my book makes him an even bigger coward) and finally he did a runner (which proves he is, in fact,  a coward).

if he was wearing one!!!

A very key thing seems to be missing: who was at fault in the accident. Based on the article it could be either or, and imho. makes the social status quite irrelevant.

This will be an interesting story to watch.

Not really, nothing will come of it even if daddy’s boy is as guilty as Mr. Cop Killer.

Lets not forget the bribes paid to police and prosecutors to fabricate evidence and impede the “investigation” for years.

Capt Thamnong will be studying CCTV

Guilty party will be determined soon. Either the foreigner was at fault or the CCTV was malfunctioning.

if porsche was 150m after the motorbike , might mean it was speeding or uncontrollable with incapacitated driver.

Driver suppose to start braking before collision to avoid it.

On the bridges there are multiple cameras, for controlling traffic as well as many more to protect construction from intruders. Examination of all of them should give idea what happen.

Also high class cars do have dash cameras (front and back), and onboard computer should have speed record and even gps positioning.

Police should have this info within hours.

No need for interviewing drivers (if that poor bike driver survives at all) and have contradictory statements.

Damage was done to the right side of car - so car was turning left, towards the exit ramp (where he parked) and bike driving strait. Car suppose to slow down before making turn.

Looks, like accident happen very late night, with bridge completely empty (as seen on the picture with motorbike), so there were not other parties involved and place is well lighted, no rain and slippery road.

This accident not suppose to happen is good road conditions

Airbags only deploy if the frontal impact is high enough. Heavy car hitting light motorcycle obviously didn't generate sufficient 'G' force.

Enough to send driver forward for a head injury ... ????

I've done a search on Porsche Taycans and I can't find any model that's a hybrid. Can you share a link?

Ok, I will rephrase.

Its an EV.

$940M obviously normal for a Policeman. Hope the bike rider is ok.

And I thought Ferarri Joe was rich.

Which explains why he is driving an "absolutely non-clean" fossil fuel-guzzling Porsche. Ah, the hypocrisy!

A Taycan S is an Porsche with an electric engine so no fuel-guzzling.

They will probably end up arresting the motorcyclist for damaging the Porsche.

Henry, Don't forget about the charges of "leaving the scene of an accident" his bike was 150 meters away from the car. Book him Danno !

On the contrary....I think he will be too brain damaged to be charged.

I foresee an extended stay in a Swiss hospital followed by a remarkable and total recovery.

the third son of Gen Wirachai Songmetta

I guess it's a tradition for the third son to go into the police, presumably as it is easy to buy a senior position, and clean up after friends and relatives. Boating "accidents" are extra.

This chap skated in 2020, also a 'third son".

‘HISO’ POLICE CAPT. KILLS FISHBALL SELLER IN HIT-AND-RUN

BANGKOK — Police on Monday said results of an alcohol and drug test of a police officer who killed a fishball seller in a hit-and-run would take “weeks.”

Police Capt. and socialite Akarawin Taechaubol, or “Hiso Jimmy,” turned himself into investigators on Thursday after he struck the victim, 49-year-old Udom Saengkanya, and fled the scene.

This is one of the reasons the Red Bull guy didn't face an unfair trial. If a drunk rice farmer kills  a motorbike rider the fine/compensation is 50,000 baht; Boss paid millions in compensation to the family of the deceased yet is still hounded by the press just because of his wealth and who his family are.

There were no witnesses in this case, yet people here automatically think the foreigner is the victim.

You think the CCTV will show the skinny little bike speeding along and then purposefully smashing into the front of the oncoming Porsche................55555555555

Good spot......do we know if the fishball seller was eventually found guilty of throwing himself in front of the car.

When has that ever actually happened?  It only happens in the imaginations of TVF posters.

"Pae suffered a head injury after colliding with the steering wheel. The airbag reportedly did not function."

There's an endorsement to buy, all that money, ฿12m for a POS, and the airbag didn't deploy.  Unless fuse removed, maybe in conjunction with seat belt warning ... hmm.

There was no need for the airbag to deploy.  Look at the front of the car, minimal damage, and an impact like that absolutely should not deploy the airbags.  Airbags can be extremely dangerous and they only go off when the sensors deem it absolutely necessary.

If it were me, I would keep driving the vehicle I am most comfortable driving, one that has a very comfortable seat, for me, and with lots of room for my (sometimes too long it seems) long legs.  Not one of the dinky cars that I have to squat down to get into and needing a rope to hang on to and pull myself up with when I get out.

Oh, and for the 5.7 Liter Hemi engine in it.

Wirachai Songmetta's wealth ( = $940m according to Forbes) comes from Absolute Clean Energy, a renewable energy producer: Absolute Clean Energy operates 19 biomass power projects with a combined capacity of 246 megawatts.

Wirachai had interests in distributing hardboard and wood chips before he set up ACE in 2008.

I was a mid-ranking Civil-Servant, and I was (usually) working 70h a week.

--  Wirachai is an *exceptional* man who rose to the level of Deputy Commander of The RTP, at the same time as being involved in 2 Companies.

The most expensive, highest spec electric car there was.

Probably get it coachbuilt especially for me.

That's what the ultra rich did in the early years of the petrol engined motor car.
