Thailand-Yesterday, March 16th, 2022, members of the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration or CCSA acknowledged that the long closed bar, nightlife, entertainment, and pub industry would be finally seriously discussed about a legal opening in Thailand.

Due to Covid-19 measures the industry has been legally closed since April of 2021 although has been allowed to operate as temporary restaurants in a sort of grey area in the interim since December.

The proposed legal opening…which we note is only a proposal and by no means is set in stone or guaranteed to happen…was welcomed by many in the nightlife industry. However, it’s not likely that many saw the proposed rules being discussed that Thai media has posted since. We will list those in a moment.

  • Ridiculous. I know plenty of bars in Bangkok where the 'rules' are already pretty much the same as pre-Covid once you step inside and remove the face nappy.   Hostesses sitting with customer

  • Might as well sit outside the 7/11, that being the case...

First realistic, picture of Pattaya beach i've seen on here for a while - complete empty and devoid of any  tourists.

Hostesses sitting with customers, no masks, dancing on stage, no ATK test, no proof of vaccine, no temperature checks etc.

What's the point of proposing relaxing the rules when the new rules being proposed are still much stricter than what is actually happening right now. It's farcical. A dog and pony show.

-All customers triple vaccinated (double ok if less than three months after last dose.)

-All staff triple vaccinated and tested by atk rapid Covid19 test every three days

-All customers, even triple vaccinated, must take an atk test within 24 hours every time they go to a bar venue.

-Dancing proposed to still be banned

-Bottle service banned

-Promotions/parties/events banned

-Hostesses banned, including sitting with customers or accepting drinks.

-No shows or anything similar at this time

The policy was adjusted down to three months (dependent of brand history) as a tactic to deal with Omicron. But you're right that wasn't optimal.

I'm sure a lot is wrong but realistically each country is at a different point as far as percentages of fully vaccinated and/or previous infections.

Thailand is somewhat behind some other countries in that regard.

When you have a government and its not just this one that treats its nation like children with no alcohol on certain days, drinking restrictions during certain hours every day (2pm-5pm) and often cite alcohol as a demonic reasoning for many of the downfalls of Thailand's culture, such as  bad driving. I can't see them opening everything up in one swoop.

It will be the typical Thai way. One little pinky in the water at a time.????

I think the vaccine requirement is OK in theory but a pain to enforce, but the ATK test requirement is totally nutty.

Pointless, too. You have the likes of Mrs baboon hanging out with Covid Positive mates and then going into town to spread the joy. Isolate? Screw that, it would inconvenience me.

I daresay she is not the only one.

Exactly.

Their are already some bars in the LK Metro area that are essentially back to normal with girls dancing on stage.

And if these are the restrictions for Pattaya nightlife when i come next month, i will just stay in Bangkok and then go to Phuket.

Pattaya are close to 93% double vaccinated.

So at what stage is vaccination levels going to be high enough in the tourist areas?

That's absurd.

Pattaya what?

Official residents?

The nightlife is mostly for tourists, yes?

Yes to the above and i thought it was a requirement for staff to already be vaccinated and all the arriving tourists need to be vaccinated as well

So i cant understand all this garbage

Domestic tourists.

These new requirements are grotesque.......Most bars would have to close again.......

Yes and the problem is the gov are the biggest kids. They come across as if the country has done really well and need to stop this exotic thing spreading. HELLO! Practically everyone has, or will have, it anyway. Let’s get back to living and the people back to work, shall we.

Covid the control gift that keeps giving and can never be given up by a masquerading military ????

Wonder if anyone is paying attention to what is going on, and being practiced, upcountry [outside of the expected Farang/tourists ghettoes].

For the most part, been opened up for some time now.

LOL. Look at you cracking jokes.

The vast majority of tourism here these days is domestic.

They are trying to convince Thais that they are concerned about their welfare and everything they have done is for that. Election due soon?

Looks tempting while it lasts.

You know, one day maybe I'll go to the bars again.

When I do I will feel far more comfortable in the presence of 'the recovered', never mind the vaccinated - that's not going to stop me from catching it if they have it.

They should be concentrating on 'recovered' status.

Based on what I've just read it seems to completely ignore people who had covid and recovered.

Will recovered staff still need to take multiple tests each week?

I've heard stories about people bwing wary around people who've already had covid - they're the safest people to be around and their level of immunity is as good as it gets.

The whole thing is a load of nonsense, I'll give it a couple of weeks before it's being universally ignored.

It's looking like a lot of fun.

Not many falangs but loads of beautiful girls.

A lot of complaining but it's there if you want it.

....."seriously discussed" = committee formed.

Meanwhile most bars could no longer give a toss. BIB are happy with brown envelopes and early to bed.

What harm have dogs and/or ponies ever done to you?

You insult the intelligence and inegrity of our quadruped friends. Shame on you.
