Nope, not even a bag of chips. You can fit a lot of contraband in a bag of chips. Just saying.????

That company's business hinges on people being willing to do this, so pardon me if I don't believe that what they're saying in a disguised ad will hold up in a court in countries such as Thailand, or that their system of asking for a receipt completely erases the risk of receiving things that have been tampered with.

Not saying that the risk is particularly high if going through a company like this, but for some random guy on an internet forum? Forget about it. Not worth the risk, in both cases.

WOW, That web page sounds like a sure fire way to end up in some third world jail or worse, shot.

Web page states........

"If any traveler is unsure of something, or gets into any difficulties, all three companies say they have 'support staff' available around the clock to help, be it via telephone, live web chat or email".......or the local jail priest  lol.

That's not very reassuring.

You MAY get a telephone call but I doubt you would get 'web chat' or 'email' if you did end up in prison.

Yeah ok, I may come across as paranoid but, would you take a chance on doing this sort of thing just to earn a couple bucks a year.

Pretty dodgy/risky way to earn a quid I recon.

Must admit, what on earth were you thinking of putting this on the forum?   Sad.

So there are platforms (three listed in the article) for the transportation of these type of  merchandise. The OP can use one of the platform to transport his goods.

Yep, he sure can.

All 3 transportation platforms listed in the BBC report are still operating.

BTW laptops (tablets) are featured as being one of the main types of merchandise transported successfully for years by other travelers who have room in their luggage.

Hopes this helps the OP.

Yes, you are right after further Googling, yet the link I supplied says nothing about this. Could you please point out the line applicable in the link?

I read it once and have now read it again and I can't see any mention of lap-tops.

There's a lot more to import duty rates on specific items than that link of yours.  The Customs website is a good place to start for specifics as is their English-speaking call centre.   This  site,

https://www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/,

is useful and generally accurate also.

Hold on. You said I should re-read my quote, which I did. You never supplied an alternate web-site. Where is the relevant info in my quote?

They're permitted to levy duty on chargeable items bought overseas and imported.  What does "their own girls" mean?    Thais are not exempt from import duty

From my recent personal experience the customs recently are not paying much attention what goes in at the airport. I went through Phuket 2 times in the last 4 months, there is no X-ray of the incoming baggage, one can just cruise through the green corridor. The second time I came in I had probably 250-300k worth of gear including 3 laptops, no issues whatsoever.

There isn't anything relevant to the import duty levied on laptops (0%) in your comment.  You seemed to think there was, that's why I said re-read it.

Oh the keyboard warriors in this forum. If you people only had the opportunity to go to yearly bbq parties sponsored by TV in many provinces and met the old timers (some of whom have passed), you would not be so jaded.

Peace to all
