There's plenty of stock to be shifted ... this is the EV car storage site (I think for Aion) just off Highway 7 in Sriracha. Get them while they're hot!

There are mainly Aions and Wulings.

It is located near Bang Phra. You can even see the cars on the Google Maps satellite image.

Thanks.   I expect it's a vehicle staging/storage center after vehicle offload (import) from the nearby Laem Cabang Seaport, the largest seaport in Thailand.   And possibly even a pre-staging point for vehicles being exported.

So not a 'staging' area for just GAC AION, as Wulings are a SAIC/MG (even GM) collaboration in some markets.

On that, Wuling offerings took a big step up from early arrivals, though still a little under spec'd for the price point.  This model does look nice, and a bit better than the tinker car versions earlier ...

Seems to be more of an article about  ICE vehicles being scraped in huge quantities while very few EVs are scraped.   Below is a partial quote for the article.

Quote

Approximately 2.3 million cars were scrapped between January 2023 and June 2025. Of those, 3,250 were EVs, accounting for just 0.14 per cent. That's despite EVs now taking up 4.8 per cent of UK market share. In short, EVs are far less likely to be scrapped than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. The FOI also revealed which models have been scrapped the most during this period.

Me. About a week ago.

OK. So what do you think we are supposed to infer from these statistics?

EV's are involved in less "write off" type accidents?

There were far less EV's in 2023 so less were written off?

......................................

Just asking as "Statistics are used much like a drunk uses a lamppost: for support, not illumination."

these statistics are per thousand vehicles so it’s irrelevant that there are less EV’s on the road

..and still your point is?

We don't know the ages of the vehicles scrapped. So it makes sense as the EV's would be newer than the other legacy cars.

So more legacy cars will have been scrapped?

Doesn't make EV's better or worth more? Just newer🤔

On a personal note; the fact there is a BYD tips and tricks forum does not endear me to EV's. As I am not a gamer I don't need to know where on the screen to click to get extra points to unlock the seat memory function et al.

Each to their own.

I was hoping for more like, say, for some intelligent insight. Both of which you seem to be in short supply.

Don't worry you won't see me at the Church of EV on Sunday.

All modern cars are like that. I have a 5 year old petrol car and the big touchscreen is full of menus and sub menus and settings and options for everything - and that's a five year old vehicle!

What gaming has to do with the proprietary functions of an EV, or any motor vehicle for that matter, is beyond me.

No, there isn’t a BYD tips and tricks forum , but you might be referring to a topic within the motoring forum ??

You seem to be very confused about a subject you clearly have no interest or knowledge about but insist on reading topics about that subject without gaining any insight as to what the topic is based upon.

Don’t like to use the T***l word but this is surely a prime example of that definition ?

This could easily turn into a hair splitting argument because some might say byd-seal-tips-tricks-and-help is a child of the thailand-motor-discussion forum.

Aseannow is a linear thread forum and I would say that threads like byd-seal-tips-tricks-and-help are not themselves forums.

Best not to talk about child here.

Add the word Petulant and too many members here fit that category

As per @josephbloggs below, the curse of the touchscreen / digital display  is not limited to EVs - it's almost all cars (if not pretty much anything electric). I suspect we're both from the analogue age so anything like a tips and tricks forum that saves me time trying to work out how to do something is a good thing in my book.

My aversion to touchscreens / digital displays is that a) they're not tactile in sense of a switch or knob and b) when one part of a touchscreen or display fails, that's the whole screen to be replaced. Off topic, but in the aviation world I would always still want to have back up analogue Navaids etc for if/when the GPS fails / power to screen fails etc.

Also off-topic, but car-related: it seems pretty stupid that in the UK it's an absolute no no to use your phone when driving, but it's okay to take eyes off the road (which you have to do because nothing is tactile) to faff around trying to turn on the defrost or whatever.

And to conclude on an EV specific point: at least my BYD lets me turn off, permanently,  through touchscreen, all the 'assistive ' driving aids. I just rented a Vauxhall in UK and that was five levels down in sub menus and had to be done every time the engine was started (being an ICE).

Of course, there are now reports that insurers in UK are denying claims where it emerged post-accident that the driver had disabled the 'safety' technology ... the march of progress!

Can you control your EV using Bluetooth and your phone? I struggle with  touch screens because they can make a perfectly good device unusable.  I now only buy treadmills that can be controlled on my phone because prior ones became useless after touch screen failures.

Shouldn’t you be controlling your vehicle using the steering wheel and brakes?

Yes 🙂 I meant controlling the touch screen but confident you were able to work through my unclear post.

Oh right, thanks for the clarification. The controlling the treadmill thing threw me off a bit, personally use pavement and dirt trails of which none are controlled by any advanced technology, not yet anyway.
