Soi Buakhao restaurant charging 55 thb for a coke, opinions.......

So I went to Pattaya today, Soi Buakhao for a few beers and people watching. After I went to the W. place and had a meal and a coke. Food was OK nothing special. As I'm paying I see I was charged 55 thb for a can of coke with ice. To me that's being greedy.

Could be it's for the non alcoholic drinker's who may wish to nurse a coke for hours, possibly. But why would you charge an eating customer so much. I'm looking at it from a business point of view.

Meh, maybe I'm wrong.

They have to make a profit somehow and if business is slow then there is your answer.  It is the Thai model to raise prices when fewer customers instead of lowering prices to bring in the customers.

What restaurant? that's the highest I've seen, easy solution is don't buy a drink at those places that overcharge

Trying drinking Coke with Ice in a GoGo beer it's approx the same price in there as a Lady Drink.

If you drink Beer it's a lot cheaper ????

W............  It's not a big deal, I just find it odd that a place would do that. I've been in the food business which is why I take an interest. I only go to Pattaya occasionally, Prime Burger is next.

That is quite a the regular normal price in higher end restaurants .

Some places charge 100 Baht for  can of coke

It's up to them how they run their bizness... I think it is not unusual that people go out of business

for stupid business practices...

70-80 baht for a can of coke in some pubs in Bangkok - and not hiso Thong Lor - normal places were you can get a pint of local lager for 120 or a little over.  55baht seems fine to me, perhaps they have a minimum profit margin of 40baht per drink of something like that, all very reasonable. You can't expect cost price drinks just because you eat - if that was the case ill be demanding my pint of Tiger for 50baht

The ice needs to be paid for , they either charge for the ice or charge more for the drinks .

BTW , are you the same poster whose day got ruined because he couldn't get a free plastic bag from a shop ?

What price do you expect?

I am sure many people, especially tourists, think 55B is very reasonable.

I guess they are more interested to sell to tourists and make money compared to selling to locals who want everything cheap. It's a business...

See I'm not complaining about the price, it just seems odd is all. This isn't a high end joint that caters to tourists. Could be they're tying to keep away the buy a coke and sit all day kinda guy.
