If this were to be adhered too, it would put Thailands most lucrative Business out of Business overnight.

Here we go again with low IQ small brains xenophobic Thais. Everyone knows that when they say like this they actually mean Thai people are the one to avoid ????????????

You'll find that Thais have more integrity. Most people where I come from don't particularly like immigrants but due to the incredible woke Karens, they say nothing.

Another 'Somchai'?

Kind of sums up the Westerner's innate racism, yet so sensitive when the boot is on the other foot.

Where I come from there are political groups that are against foreigners -  there's absolutely nothing like skinheads or Combat 18 in Thailand.

Colonialism has lasting effects on the fragile egos of some farang.

Westerners racism? LOL

“Somchai” is nothing else than  for example  “potatoes” or “kraut” for german people ( I am half German myself and woudlnt give a <deleted>** if someone called me like that) or “spaghetti” for Italian.

this has ZERO to do and can’t be compared to the disgusting xenophobic comments we hear regularly from Thai officials!

Oh yes....that advice will really fly in Pattaya.

Where do all these idiots come from ?  When AIDS first hit the scene here it was the same....avoid foreigners. Then it transpired that the first cases here were among the gay Thais returning here from America.

Oh goody, let's all live a righteous , celibate life and blame farangs for this disease. Of course Thai's can't carry nor propagate this illness. Unless said Thai's they are gay or ladyboys that is. Another gem from nutty Thai officials.

Covid spread by dirty foreigners.

Foreigners please come back, will even let you buy land and 10 year visa’s

Foreigners started to come back and guess what ? It’s dirty foreigners again, keep away from them.

How stupid and Xenophobic do you have to be to spout such drivel while using products like Apple and being driven in BMW or Benz being dressed in LV or Gucci with a Rolex watch

Oh dear...... he could have made a more general, less xenophobic statement.

Why?  We all know that, like covid, monkey pox is a foreign disease carried by foreign people.  All foreigners are likely to have monkey pox.  They don't wash, you know?  I doubt you would get monkey pox from a Thai, and certainly not from one that you know.

Just plain ignorance….

similar how Thai public health says a covid person must wait 3 months b/f getting booster yet western literature says get your booster asap after one has fully recovered from covid especially with any future overseas travel…

no one challenges authority here so poor public health policies arise from incompetency/uncertainty

By chance, I was in a meeting yesterday with the deputy minister for public health and he spent a couple of minutes explaining that Monkeypox was mainly spread by MSM (men who have sex with men). This is roughly what I had heard when the first outbreaks began in Africa.

The medical council person has basically tarred everyone who is here or who was planning to visit Thailand with a big brush. Shooting oneself in the foot seems to be a popular Thai game.

About three months ago a vote was held in which all the countries of the world taken part. That vote was intended to empower WHO with more powers, fortunately that proposal was rejected. I would like to know how Thailand voted, if anyone knows

More panic from supposed community leaders that the sky is falling. How about teaching Thais to think objectively instead of covering everything in a blanket statement.

Firstly Thais are returning home from overseas as well as foreigners.

Secondly this is mainly (not exclusivelly though ) a sex risk that gays and bi men are exposed to.

Thirdly not all foreigners in Thailand have been overseas recently.

From the first case here they have blamed foreigners even when his Visa was on over stay meaning he been here long before he caught it. And so must have caught it here but Thailand being the most racist country in Asia and run by the most corrupt  everything is blamed on foreigners  They are so blinkered and brainwashed nothing surprises me here the education system needs to be changed so the people can wake up to the truth and decide for themselves what the real news is

Well technically they are correct... As with Covid, IF caught outside of Thailand and brought in there is some blame which can be directed towards foreigners... even if a Thai caught it overseas and carried it into Thailand.

But... Your point remains valid, there is a strong element of xenophobia and the ‘avoid sexual contact with foreigners’ comment.... IF THAT COMMENT IS TRANSLATED CORRECTLY !!!!!

Yes, that statement need capitals... because a coupe of years back the vast majority of foreigners in Thailand who read it took sleight when it was reported (translated) that Anutin stated “Dirty Foreigners.....”...  which is not exactly what he said... the comment was deliberately transliterated by the media into click-bait gold !!!...

All of that said - the comment itself is still extremely clumsy and unprofessional from someone in public office.....  “be careful......” etc etc should be the statement as the statement in its current guise could be more damaging as there is an implication that Thais would not carry the virus !

Considering Thai wanting and needing tourists and having had something like 30 million prior to covid and now aiming for just as much if not more, officials should chose language which can not be translated in many ways but clear message.

you are indeed correct it may of been translated wrongly which is the fault of the speaker who chose such words that could be translated in an “ugly” way.

A simple statement that monkey pox can be transmitted sexually , be careful not to have sexual intercourse with strangers is appropriate enough to pass on the message
