Besides the risk of theft, you really do not want a "working girl" to know where you live.  They have been known to show-up drunk at any hour, looking for money.

Hotel that takes ID and has security cameras: OK.  Apartment or condo: no way.

If you're talking about picking up a freelancer, you don't know, off the street or Beach Road for a short time, then in my opinion you're better going to a short time hotel. There's always an element of risk, she might get crazy on you, or demand more money, all sort of things can go wrong, so if you're in a STH it's easy to just get away. There's also the point that if she/he comes back to your apartment (at your invitation) then maybe they will come back again the next day, every day, next week etc., and make attempts to get money or blackmail you. And could be quite embarrassing if you have friends visiting you at the time.

 

Better the freelancer doesn't know your real address.

 

If she/he goes anywhere with you there is the possibility of violence, theft of phone, notebook, etc. Nobody can give you a guaranteed answer to stop that.

They may not be tempted by that and its so obvious . 

If they noticed something small and expensive, like some jewellery , watch or ATM card , they may very pick pick it up before they leave and you won't notice for a few days .

   Seems like the older they get , the more likely they are to steal from you

I did have a weird experience .

   I was walking home on Saturday night rather drunk and I got propositioned  by an older woman working the streets and she wanted to stay in my room as she had nowhere else to stay , which seemed like a good idea at the time . 

   She stayed in my room and the next morning we went out for a feed and I had some spicy Thai food which played havoc with my stomach and I got stomach cramps and really needed to take a dump as soon as possible . 

   I quickly said that I'd be back in ten minutes because I really needed to go back to my room and I hurried off back to my room and straight to the toilet and didn't even manage to sit down before I began dumping .

    Next thing I knew there was a loud banging on my condos front door , it was her again who had followed me back to my room .

   I shouted out for her to wait , but she started banging louder and shouting for me to give her 500 Baht .

   Once again I shouted for her to wait , but she just kept banging and shouting .

   I stood up from the toilet and walked over to the door and opened it and she barged her way in .

   I didn't trust her being in the condo on her own whilst I was in the toilet . 

  So, I sat back on the toilet and finished my dump off with the toilet door open and she was sat a few metres away .

   I finished my dump , done the paper work afterwards whilst face to face with her  , washed my hands  , pulled my trousers up and went and got 500 Baht and gave it to her .
