So is only few years ago Pattaya caused chaos by extending and repairing road and footpaths on beach road .. and now this ? No reason at all .no benefit . Must have money to waste. And mass congestion as it takes years to do .all to allow it to be  a massive car park. Thais and planning. Hilarious

'Will allow 200 more cars to park along the beach.'  As if that is a good thing.  Meanwhile, more trees lost, more concrete added, more nature removed, and more congestion, not less.  Planning should be focused on reducing the number of vehicles on Beach Road not adding them--with more parking garages and some sort of trolley running where the current beachside parking is now.

as i said on the other thread on this subject, the motive is corruption 

Contracts for construction and money to be madeby those in power . Pattaya is up near the top in Thailand  for that. And there's a lot of competition for number 1. One thing's for sure it's nothing about 'easing traffic congestion '. On what is already a one way road there's other methods to stop congestion... But widening the road ? Brainless idiots 

 

Outside of the contract/kickbacks this is only going to benefit the thais with their cars. This project looks to be going through the high season. So as with past consecutive projects that damaged the  European mini summer high season along the beach. There will now be another crowd of  Westerners who not only will not be coming back but who also may cancel/change plans when they see this ongoing construction mess. Again they talk up quality tourism but cannot stop screwing this place up for Westerners. I don't even think the Indians are going to put up with it.

It's all about money in Thailand, the environment has little value to most Thais unless one can make money off of it. The cutting of trees and addition of parking spots on Breach Road will add to the pollution and degradation of the walking path and beach.

Just getting ready for when the vast hordes of unwashed Chinese zero dollar tourists return. May as well skim the usual 30% of the top of the contract while they're waiting.

Happy to be leaving soon. Really is an unpleasant environment with the only motivation from those in business is to screw you for more money

Sorry to disappoint but my first introduction to Thailand, I did not seek either brothels, brides nor orgies. I was introduced to Thai girls who treated me as a BF, new to Thailand who was to be loved and cared for during the time together. As a result I have been here over a decade and now with a Thai wife and Stepdaughter. I have only good memories of the earlier days and Thai females. I am sorry about your apparent view.

This is the promenade before these bogus projects. A very nice environment for all. But this scene where Westerners met local women had to go. Mission accomplished city hall. It's going to be about all thais along the beach now. Pickup parties motorbikes mutually exclusive for Westerners on vacation.

Now read with comprehension. No brothels, no orgies but I was with Thai girls. I was a fat boy in a candy shop … but then, no, that was not the main reason for coming as I was retiring and could not afford living in my own country). And yes, I have an education so the culture, including the temples, etc., was part of my retiring in Thailand (main consideration, lower cost of living). Ha! Yes, I am living the dream … Retired in Thailand for over a decade, with a traditionally raised Thai Wife and Stepdaughter (it is like stepping back to the 1950 USA). I am on a Visa for reason of retirement as it is less paperwork. I encourage you to expand your knowledge concerning Thailand.

Move elsewhere. Why stay in Pattaya if you hate it?

This has been an ongoing saga for decades. It's just a corruption scam.

Who knows what it is exactly that attracts one person to another. From long experience it seems to be a combination of many things, not just one thing. Some are attracted by a smile, an easy going nature, my wife upon meeting, said the first thing was my photo, as we met online (we were lucky, as "there be dragons! For both foreign men and Thai girls). Are you are thinking money? Sure that plays in the world round ... in "developing countries" without social safety net for females ... economic security is certainly a consideration. I did background reading before coming. Part of Thai culture is wanting to establish where you fit in within the "social pecking order". How old are you? (Asia - age gains respect). What is/was your occupation? (Professions get more respect). How much do you make? (Wealth holdings gain respect). Do you have a steady source of income? (Economic security in a lower cost country is judged important).
