A top lawyer has got involved after a 14 year old boy named only as "A" claimed that his father - a top national politician - beat him repeatedly.

The child had LGBT issues and was assaulted with a PVC pipe after dressing up as a girl.

He fled home two days ago.

Lawyer Kannarat Pongphaibunwech or "Kan Palang" is now helping the child after he was taken to a children's home in his native Phetchaburi.

A said: "I want my father to treat me like everyone else. I'm your son. He attacked me with a PVC pipe. I couldn't move and had to lie down for weeks. I have been mentally and physically abused."

Since the boy arrived at the home for children and families no family member has bothered to come and pick him up.

Identities were kept secret in the Thai Rath story.

    Way to victim blame there.

  • Parents are tossers. That was no way to treat your child.

Sad, to see a family rejecting a child who has decided his gender is not what they were born with.  Acceptance for many is hard and they believe that it shoes negatively on them.  My oldest daughter is LGBTQ. I accepted her and never thought any differently. Her mother however has disowned her as its agai st the bible.  Sad that we have folks who can not accept and live there children for who they are.

The child should have known the reaction would be detrimental dressing in a dress. We also only have the child's version. Being beaten with a plastic pipe then saying was unable to move for weeks I find hard to believe. I was attacked by 14 people, one with a metal bar. My ear had to be stiched back on and many stitches on my face and hands. I was on my feet the next day with a little help. I have found thai society very accepting of gays especially children.  Anyone who has taught in a thai school would see this often. However, brining loss of face is a different matter. Bringing outsiders into a family matter is another matter.

As you can see homophobia still exists...sad in today's society where folks feel this way, much like my ex-wife.

The father is sick and should be ashamed. It shows again how very needed it is that LGBTQ community gets a recognition of the state by legalization of the relationships. And there should be more education in schools about the subject. In other countries there are even helplines available for kids who have problems like this. A lot of work to do.

They should name the politician with name and picture, to prevent he get a new position after the elections next year.

trauma.   life long trauma.   if not treated, it WILL have tons of negative consequences.

This is absolutely shocking.

They openly use the pronoun 'He' in this report!

Pronoun misapplication is a breach of human rights and I am writing a letter.

What a (…. Head)of a father that kid will face enough trauma going through life with gender issues I hope he is strong enough to survive and thrive

Very sad how 3 people on here though that a father beating up their son leading to him going into a children's home deserved a laughing emoji.

There are some nasty people on their forum.  I just hope they don't have any children of their own.

So everybody has to accept homosexuals?

Always find it amusing when all of these LGBGAYTRANSWHATEVERS  want to be accepted but cannot accept that there are those who think differently. Yet they demand tolerance and show none.

What a farce the whole topic has turned into.

There's a difference between not accepting a homosexual, and beating / abusing.

Do you know a case of a teenager LGBT son/daughter who beat up their father because he was straight?

I also find it hard to believe that when you were 14 years old you were attacked by 14 adults.

But there's only one, how could he be they?

He is using the newly devised US derived nomenclature on how to refer to the gender different individual.  To me the new woke version is derogatory.  If a person identifies as a male or a female then in my book that's all is needed, and no not based upon the body parts one has.
