It seems that Asean Now is nowhere near as busy as Thaivisa was? Was this rebranding a huge mistake? It seems there are very few contributors these days.

Everything changes, moves on, evolves.

Computers , the internet, social media all changed in the last 20 years, some for the better, others not so much.

If memory serves, this month will be the 20th anniversary of this forum.

I don't think that its much to do with the name or format .

Internet forums are quite dated and old fashioned now and on the decline , have been for about ten years now .

Like  E-mails and things , technology moves on

IMHO the rebranding didn't cause the relative [wanted] exodus,  it just came with it. The next step would be to take the Elon Musk approach.

Yeah, fastest growing platform, out performed Facebook, which is now dying, and Tiktok has over 1 billion users and growing.

Things change, new players emerge.

Natural attrition?

Given the average age of posters here - 70+ ? - likelihood some have passed away, apart from the obvious age-related reason we've had two years of Covid impact.

Also aware of long-term expats who returned to their home countries at the beginning of Covid and did not return.

Spot on. One of the worst things to happen to civilization and popular culture in a very long time. Along with Twitter and Instagram, these (fame seeking) platforms are dumbing down society, and helping form a netizen victim culture. Also, when you give ignorant people like Kyrie and Kanye a platform, they will misbehave and say dumb stuff. Social media is not a step forward for mankind.

(This forum excepted, lol).

The whole internet has also changed since smart phones came into existence .

Previously you would get home in the evening and go on the internet on a home computer , its was a thing to do .

These days ,many people are online all the time on their smart phones and not much effort goes into their posts .

True, mobile users have long since surpassed the pc user of the net.

"92.1% of internet users access the internet using a mobile phone. There are approximately 4.32 billion active mobile internet users "

Depends if witty or just rubbish.

I think its down to members expectations some people post a question on here and expect instant answers

Its like they assume that forum members have nothing else to do other than answer their questions which some of the questions are so vague its impossible to answer or the question is a general question where the answer can easily be found by doing a search on the internet

But if it gets deleted before you see it, you never know.  I'm always disappointed to follow a mod in 5 minutes after a clean up.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes.

No comparison.

We got class.

Also, Tigger, at Tiger, the Old Baldy, is not smart enough to appreciate the IRONY he is always harping about.

He loves house cats.

House cats are not tigers.

And, satire, irony, and truly intellectually biting humor is just beyond Old Baldy.
