My HP laptop was driving me crazy (it was 6 years old), turn on and it was 25 - 30 minutes before i could do anything with it. hit the shut down and it took 5 - 6 minutes to shut down, tried everything after getting advice from  everyone in the world.  Then i found the answer, invest in  a new one. Now start up and shut down are instant

I don't have any problems at all with any other site just with Facebook

You won't get a good answer how to fix the problem yourself in this forum. Accept that you need a specialist. Find a specialist and let him solve the problem.

as said try another Browser, myself use AVG Browser just for Facebook

Main Browser is Chrome. also use Opera for some sites..... find which is the best for you and your PC

Have you tried cleaning all the rubbish off your laptop? Do you have anti virus's install and if so how many. You cant run two in automatic mode or you will get a snail for a computer.

Uninstall Facebook, restart the laptop, reinstall Facebook, use an alternative browser, ie Edge or Firefox, etc.

Would you lose all your profile content if you uninstalled and reinstalled  Facebook ?

Nope - uninstall a browser or delete activity/history is what it says, that's why I asked the poster who recommended it.

Lost me there. Never heard of that one.

Don't know if this could help but.......

You say you've got windows 10. If Facebook DID work ok before on your windows 10 but now doesn't, then maybe ignore my advice. My advice is to google your problem.

I had windows 10 installed recently and found that it has problems doing things that was fine on windows 7. For example, playing dvds and typing the @ symbol. In both cases I found solutions on google. (Windows 10 seems problematic imho.)

Worth a try maybe.

And I've noticed that since it changed to Meta ownership it loads more slowly.

Facebook is going to die, the successful concept of a social network was replaced with a failed concept of jerking off in virtual reality goggles in the "Metaverse", but the top managers are refusing to admit the failure.

and conforming to the current agenda they continue to hire managers of cultural diversity and managers of gender diversity and managers of color diversity while firing the developers.

Facebook is not effectively installed on your computer rather it is a web page I suspect you have a browser problem.

Have you tried to access your account using another browser or computer?
Does the same issue happen?
The first step in any troubleshooting is to clear the browser cache/cookies.

*For Internet Explorer browser: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Delete
*For Google Chrome: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Browsing Data
*For Firefox: Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL simultaneously and click Clear Now
(other browsers are similar)

Let me know if still an issue.

I know, hence my question.  It was you that suggested to uninstall it which didn't make sense.

Yes, I agree my response was too casual, I meant initially to delete the shortcut, clear the browser cache, etc, restart and effect a new Facebook shortcut, etc.

first open task manager and see what resorces are being used
if laptop not been on for a while windows likes to read/write a bunch of stuff
which can hog the drive
if your laptop has an HDD, it needs to be replaced by an SSD
otherwise your system just jams up waiting for HDD

have you left the laptop for an hour or so switched on?
not sleep mode, ON, with display.
let windows finish what it is trying to do

might be good to post your laptop specs/model

Probably to do with your HDD if it is old. Buy an SSD and install that

So far, These are the only 2 replies you need to read from this entire thread????‍♂️

 I have a similar.problem w/FB.

It never completes the page change - the progress bar goes veryyy slowly near completion and stops about 1/16th of an inch from completion.

I use a different browser now for FB only and no problem.

Clear cache and cookies, reboot, and as someone has suggested, try another browser.

PS - I never use the app - only the website.
