Popular Post HuskerDo2
Any day could be your last no matter what age you are. Live life to its fullest each and every day so you have no regrets later on. Some 80-year-old people are in better condition physically and mentally than some in their 50s. 37 3 12
Popular Post The Fugitive
I honestly thought that 'three score years and ten' was of biblical reference. Perhaps it was/is but apparently to this day it remains the yardstick by which premature death is measured. Also, life expectancy can be affected by many things. My Thai brother-in-law died in June of kidney disease aged 56. My Mrs (his sister) didn't have a lot of sympathy. Apparently for many years he had been taking Chinese herbal remedies and these had eventually poisoned him. To be honest I wouldn't expect many of us would do this. 90+ is feasible with normal lifestyle IMHO. 3

If I cant get out of bed, I will say a last good morning, time to go and meet my maker! No regrets Sex, drugs and rokn roll is just an illusion, wake up, time to grow up and grow a pair! Popular Post stoner
with modern medicine and treatments there is no reason a decently healthy 80 year old can't live and feel like a late 50's or early 60 year old. 8 1 1
Popular Post Lacessit
I still set myself targets, whether it is learning to read and write Thai, or breaking my age at golf. Creating new dishes in the kitchen. Omphaloskepsis is not for me, I might cark it tomorrow, or be on deck for another 10 years. No point to worrying about it. 8 2 3

Popular Post thaibeachlovers
I pray every time I think about it that I never see my 80th birthday. Might be different if I had a family that loved me, but I don't. To be honest, the idea of being reduced to living in an understaffed so called "rest home" fills me with horror. I actually know people that work in such places to know what goes on. Being stuck in front of day time tv or eating the muck my father had to eat is not my idea of a decent life. 11

Strictly speaking, these are therapies, not medications. The problem with many medications is an organo-chlorine complex tucked away somewhere in the chemical formula. Organo-chlorines love accumulating in body fat. Just ask anyone who was exposed to Agent Orange. Combining exposure to imbibed alcohol and inhaled chlorinated solvents is usually fatal, as it destroys the liver and kidneys. Popular Post allanos
In this era, eighty is the new sixty! A wise person will always plan for the future. Only God knows on what date an individual's demise is ordained for. How were the biblical patriarchs able to live for hundreds of years before the Flood? Modern science and biology is working on anti-aging technologies, and increasing longevity, feverishly. It is within the realm of probability that a lifespan of hundreds of years may again become attainable for those who are prepared to embrace it. 1
Popular Post PeachCH
I'm 80. Eat supplements, eat healthy food, stopped smoking and drinking alcohol. Go sauna every second day. Still working in share trading. But I hate to get older. Fortunately my wife is 42 years younger and don't care about my age at all. Resume : To get old sucks! 11 2 3

I see no reason to pull the plug if I continue to have quality of life. In more enlightened countries, assisted dying is an option. Sometimes we don't get the option, e.g. someone who has a stroke. The best I can do ( 79 yo ) is work on my physical and mental health in a disciplined way. 1

OneMoreFarang
Long time ago I knew a (super rich) guy who had terminal cancer. He was maybe 40 years old, and the doctors gave him max 6 months more to live. Obviously, nobody is happy if they are told that their life will end soon. But it seems to focus peoples' minds. What do you do now if you know it's all over in a few months? I don't know how much of that happens to people when they are 80 or older. But I think it's an interesting phenomenon. P.S.: He lived about 10 more years ...

Does that means hundreds of years being old ? No , thanks ... But if you meant that it might be possible one day to just stop aging , that might be a different thing ... 55 Everything in Universe is aging , time is the most powerful dimension . And everything's lifespan is limited in time , and there is a reason for that .

I find this attitude puzzling. Even in my late 30s my life has been through many different phases, some more energetic than others! I suppose if you've spent your whole life being "lively and full of energy" then it might be difficult to adapt. But why not at least be open to it and see if you can find new, less energetic ways, to stimulate yourself?
