Popular Post snoop1130 Posted December 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2022 PHUKET (NNT) - Phuket province has launched its Phuket Crime-Free campaign to stamp out criminal activities and illegal businesses. Local authorities hope the campaign will help boost confidence among tourists and make the city a safer place to live and visit. The campaign targets inappropriate behavior, illegal activities, dangerous acts and disruptions to peace and order. It also targets international criminals attempting to operate out of Thailand and tarnish the nation’s image. Since December 1, officials have arrested six foreign nationals overstaying their visas, imposed fines on 117 foreigners, arrested a migrant worker breaching his permit and brought charges against three tour guides and companies operating without a license. The province hopes such actions will give visitors to the city more confidence during their stays. Immigration officials are also working to help foreign nationals who fall victim to scams. A total of 15 charges have been leveled against Thai nationals operating as fake visa agents. Popular Post Megasin1 Posted December 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2022 So first step, arrest and resign all the police then everyone will feel a lot safer and the crime rate will drop overnight. Problem solved and I haven't had my G&T yet ???? 4 2 2 1 9
Popular Post Bim Smith Posted December 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2022 How many international criminals have been caught? Notice the absence of the local Thai mafia including those in uniform. It's all smoke and mirrors. A sleight of hand to distract people to give the illusion that something is being done. They finger point in the wrong direction. No such thing as zero crime anymore than zero Covid or zero C02...... 10 1 1

Popular Post spidermike007 Posted December 20, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 20, 2022 You want to lower crime in Phuket? Start with the police. Lower the crimes they commit. Then move onto the local government. Saying you want a place to be crime free, is like saying you want the water to be clean, or you want 100% occupancy all the time. Or you want no traffic accidents. It is merely silly PR and wishful thinking, backed up by nothing. 5
kcpattaya Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 A Top-Down approach would be a nice initiative. But hey, we're not going to shoot ourselves in the foot innit?

There you have it! It´s really simple. ????
Nip Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Phuket is the Cradle of Royal Thai Police Corruption governed by Region 8 Headquarters the retirement home for all those Phuket policemen occupying inactive posts including the original Joe Ferrari. . 1

The natives can do that themselves. 1 1

Thais for every foreigner, shouldn't the number of non-foreigners fined be nearly 6 million Thais fined too? Instead, the number reported is zero. Or don't Thais commit crimes as 'Oh no, Thai person never do that sir'?

Dart12 Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 overstays are not the 'crimes' that concern tourists and residents nor do they even care one iota. Theft, scams, overpricing, hacking, burglary, assaults, taxi mafia would make the list though. 2
Tropposurfer Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Here's an obvious tip for them ... Start with the taxi mafia ... and the IO corruption.

There were never any goal posts and the Police are well versed in failure. So it should be successful in achieving nothing which was probably the original intention. ben2talk Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Impressive - so they'll all resign after all the politicians and local leaders are fired, and the soldiers too - starting with the top and working their way down. After that, perhaps start to train and recruit some real police, including the new initiative started abroad some years ago called 'Traffic Division' where they actually go out and see how people drive (rather than go out and deliberately ignore everything they see). Very reassuring - I'm confident that this isn't simply a publicity story for the media.
