An Australian man was arrested at the Samui International Airport with 96 bullets and an object similar to a gun that appeared to be a dissembled firearm. He claimed he needed them for self-defense.

The Surat Thani Immigration Office told the Phuket Express today (December 22nd) that they have arrested Mr. Mark B., 41, an Australian national, at the Samui International Airport.

Seized from him was an object similar to a gun (in separate parts) and 96 bullets.

Seriously? They don't know what a disassembled gun looks like? LOL.

So Sitting Shrimp (GoongNang) translated the story from the information given, whilst travelling between Nakhon Si Thammrat, Phuket and Krabi? No mention of whether the 96 bullets and firearm were in checked or hand carry baggage (not that it makes too much difference). Destination not stated but almost certainly Bangkok. So he needed the items for "self defence when travelling abroad". Does that mean he lives in Thailand and was heading overseas? Should be, as he bought from a Thai in Samui. Where was he heading? Arrested but no mention of further detention or court appearance. It would be so nice if the "reporters" would file a more detailed story.

He is obviously mixed up in some form of organized crime if he needs guns for self defence when he is traveling.

Interesting 96 bullets, usually in boxes of 50 so probably fired 4 to try it out then broke the weapon down thinkong the parts would not be recognised by radar...but didn't clean it properly so the nitrate deposit got picked up....

What will the judge say when handing down the Ozzy's sentence?

Crazy, delusional people come in all nationalities.

I get tired of reading about people of my nationality who do stupid and criminal things, because it reflects on those who are law-abiding.

Irrespective of any penalties he may get from the Thai authorities, IMO he should be deported after said penalties, and banned for life from Thailand.

Me thinks the BIG issue is No pointing by any of the officials. Very suspicious.

If liking guns is a hobby attributed to America I can live with that.   Why wouldn't the reporter ask what numbers on the bullets?  Obviously a semi auto handgun because they break down and could confuse the uneducated.   So 9mm, .380, or 45acp.   Yes most commercial pistol ammo comes in 50 per box.

To bad this Aussie doesn't read Asiannow or he would know the Israeli got in deep do do with less bullets no gun.

he's claiming it's his god given right according to the Australian constitution..  ????

Walking around with "an object that looks like a gun", carrying 96 bullets, and taking the whole shebang to an international airport !!!!!     Elon ...... here's your new CEO for Twitter.

GoongNang means 'Pretty woman'.

Try a Google search on "Ingleburn shooting 2016", which may answer some of your questions.

If he expected to get through airport security with 96 bullets - he needs a mental assessment before being sent to jail ...... unless they were rubber bullets in plastic casings.
