Hotel Receptionist Situation.

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

When entering a hotel in Pattaya, I paid 300Bt as security to be returned when I left. As I was leaving, I handed in my key and expected to wait awhile for someone to check the room.

I watched as the receptionist looked at a screen, it was not facing me, it was at a 50 degree angle so I bent over and saw my room as the receptionist looked at it.

Imagine if that hotel had a kinky receptionist. ????

  • Ok, boys then....lol.....sorry couldnt resist....????????

  • So, if that camera looked inside the room, and the previous night you had a guest, you could now be featuring on pornhub !...lol...????????

Look on the positive side. If you were involved in anything 'kinky' and doing a good job, s/he might have been knocking at your door wanting to join in.

Yes, I don't know about video, but the receptionist was checking my room on some monitor before handing me back my deposit. I was being nosey and popped my head over the counter to see what she was looking at and had a full view of the room.

I would not be happy about that at all.

I find it hard to believe that a receptionist can have an unrestricted camera access to rooms, they can be sued for breach of privacy close, maybe the op didn't see the whole process that he claimed to witnessed ...

It didn't matter to me as I never take girls back to my room.

The room also had cooking facilities and the receptionist was probably checking everything was OK before handing me back my deposit. I had a very quick look and the monitor was quite big.

Unlikely a video camera fixed in the room, maybe they use their phone or something when checking room to save time for checkout \ deposit back

That would be exactly it, it is not often I get asked to leave a deposit, but there was a lot of kitchen equipment in the room.

Ye i think the maids take a picture and it downloads to a shared drive or dropbox or something. We were in patts a few months back and when we checked out they claimed we had taken one of the smaller hand towels. Mrs objected and the receptionist showed her a photo of the room with the towels laid out on the bed - with only one hand towel. So obviously the maid has snapped a photo.

Mrs went back and found it mixed in among the bed sheets. First time this had happened

thai have pervert laws?

Were you able to communicate with the receptionist ?  Possibly when guests check out they take a video of the room so the receptionist can see it.  This way if you are being charged for anything you can be shown why.
If you had the impression there was a video camera planted  in your room.  You should have questioned it immediately .  Either with the receptionist or someone in charge.  I would not just walk away if I stayed in a hotel thinking they had a video camera hidden in my room.

Wow, this case needs to be cracked.

Let's get our finest, the 'AN investigation team', let's investigate and get to the bottom of this guys.

Erm....  You definitely chose the wrong user name...

Perhaps change your name to  ’show-it-all-Jones’......  :giggle:

---------

Seriously though - Was the image you saw from a mobile device carried by a maid etc, or something fixed in the room?....

If its the maid carrying a camera or phone to show the manager / receptionist that there is no major damage etc, then that would obviously be ok.

Conversely anything fixed is a massive invasion of privacy and most certainly against some laws.

Can you name the place? - maybe others are familiar with it.

Why did you not ask them there and then ?....  go back and check the room for the camera etc.

The receptionist may have a link with the member of staff that checks the room, who have a camera/phone...☺️

Not that I have anything to hide, but I always have a little check around  hotels rooms for any hidden cameras.

Apparently quite a lot found in airb'n'b rentals.

I never give cash deposit. Always credit card. If I forget and the hotel does not refund it, I can always reclaim it from my CC banks.

Why would the maid take a photo of the room? They could just call the desk to say ok or not. The desk staff can't inspect a photo and say whether everything was ok.

I find your post to be a little unbelievable.

Did the receptionist talk to any staff, e.g. to go and check your room, if that is the case, perhaps the staff member was wearing a camera or was showing the room to reception via a mobile app ?

Hotels cannot have cameras in rooms, we all know that, but then again, I have never stayed at a posh hotel that holds 300 baht cash as a deposit.
