webfact Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 INN Thai Caption: Pit Bull that killed owner to be sent for behavioral trainingA dog training unit in Pak Chong, NE Thailand, are set to try and improve the behavior of a Pit Bull dog that savaged and killed its owner. Most countries would have put down the beast that attacked Therdpong, 47, a former jockey at his home as he tried to protect his mother, notes ASEAN NOW. But Thailand is set to try and rehabilitate the animal and turn it into what what INN said would be a "War Dog" for the benefit of the public. Therdpong's abdomen was ripped to shreds by "Bobby" after he was dragged into its cage on February 3rd. He died in hospital next day and was cremated last Friday. The dog was reportedly involved in more than ten biting incidents prior to that over the years since it was raised from a puppy. It had been set to be looked after by a kind person, ASEAN NOW reported last week.. This has now changed. Picture: INN A vet called Pratchaya Ittharat in Nakhon Ratchasima said that animal welfare staff from the local council had gone to the house where the attack happened and found Bobby still in its cage. And he was still very volatile. The powerful animal had to be shot twice with a tranquilizer so that he could be taken into the council's care. Now the Talat council is preparing to take the animal to an army dog training school in Nong Sarai, Pak Chong or "War Dog" to see if they can improve its behavior. Picture: INN Failing that they will find an alternative home for the dog. Nowhere in the INN article was euthanasia considered as an option. Instead the media had pictures of Bobby in its cage being tranquilized and a sleeping or tranquilized animal. They also had pictures of the horrendous leg injuries of what appeared to be Therdpong's mother whom he had tried to save before he was set upon himself. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-02-13 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post proton Posted February 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) Probably the stupidest story I have ever read on here. The only way they could improve it's behaviour is by cremating Bobby the killer Pit Bull's remains. Edited February 13, 2023 by proton 9 2 5
soi3eddie Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 So many sad and tragic elements to this report. A dog, supposedly "man's best friend" is chained and caged. Said dog then attacks and shreds it's loving owner to death. Now the authorities want to train and rehabilitate the animal. Maybe possible but at what risk of a future attack? Some breeds are clearly prone to being dangerous. Wish for a good outcome. 2

ChaiyaTH Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 If a dog bite a sheep you have to take the dog out, so what on earth is this seriously.

Quite how that benefits the public I'm not sure, apart from the fact it won't be in a public place anymore.. at least I hope not. 1

pomchop Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I am sure the ten other people that got attacked as well as the mom that got savaged and then lost her son when his guts were ripped out by HIS dog might not think this is such a great idea...just imagine a person brutally attacked 12 people and savagely killed the last one ripping his guts out what would the penalty be? Let's hope we are not reading of more attacks if this sweet little pit kills his trainer or escapes to attack and kill more innocent people, pets, etc. So is the person who decided this going to try to rehabilitate the killer or more likely assign some poor underling to risk his life? Dumb doesn't begin to describe it. 1

ignore it Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) Put Bobby the jockey killer in a cage with Anuwat from Roi- Et the Burmese factory worker killer. Edited February 13, 2023 by ignore it
Purdey Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Can you imagine them using this creature to hold back student demonstrators in Bangkok? Or letting them off the leash to chase people across fields in the South of Thailand? This is a PR disaster waiting to happen. 1 1

chickenslegs Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 No reason why a pitbull can't be trained for a new role. Here's just one example ...

proton Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 why not make a start on his training by removing all of it's teeth?

ross163103 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I'm a dog person but the only choice for this dog should have been euthanasia, it bit ten people BEFORE Therdpong, get serious people! 1 1
mancub Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Better hope the beast doesn't go " rogue". 1
HuskerDo2 Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 5 hours ago, John Drake said: Who is the pitbull going to go to war against? Well, since the Thai military is inept and couldn't protect the country from an attack from a flock of wild geese it makes sense they now have a vicious Pitbull to lead the charge against any attack by the Chinese. Then they have a scapegoat/scapedog to blame their failure on.
khunpeer Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 War-dog? what war? Tland has not been in war for centuries already... 2
