Fox News has formally apologized to the judge overseeing Dominion's $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit after a late-stage admission revealing Rupert Murdoch's role as an officer at Fox News was addressed in court this week.

In a letter submitted to the court on Friday, Fox attorney Blake Rohrbacher described the situation as a "misunderstanding" and said they "understand the Court's concerns, apologize, and are committed to clear and full communication with the Court moving forward."

The letter comes after Fox was sanctioned this week after Judge Eric Davis said they made misrepresentations to the court and delayed turning over evidence.

Right. Fox's lawyers mistakenly thought that they could get away with it.

  • Good to see them apologize for their mistake.   Hopefully other MSM outlets follow their example in future and own their errors.    Well done Fox News.

  • Murdoch is an influence for evil in the US, UK and Aus at least.  I hope he ends his days rotting in prison, whilst Fox, the mail, the express and all are made to pay reparations for the disgusting  l

So what are the chances of Rupert (and family), Tucker, Sean and the rest of the Fox 'family' appearing in court under oath?  Will it be televised - on Fox News ????

It looks like they are putting a lot of effort into protecting the big guy.  Does that mean others are going to get thrown under the bus?

Probably.

They should be forced to publish every hour, for at least a month, statements like: We lied to you because we wanted to rile you up and make more money from you. We don't care about the truth, we don't care about our viewers, we only care about money. And this story was no exception. Every detail from our shows is about getting money from you. We don't care about the truth.

Please repeat that 24/7.

Murdoch is an influence for evil in the US, UK and Aus at least.  I hope he ends his days rotting in prison, whilst Fox, the mail, the express and all are made to pay reparations for the disgusting  lies they tell and damage they have done.  To be honest they deserve a modern day revolution and the end that entails.

Well done Fox News.

Lies and mistakes are not the same. Fox News was knowingly lying about election fraud. Not a mistake.

About the OP issue, they also knowingly hid evidence they were compelled to provide. Not a mistake either.

Well done Fox News.

This is not about what Fox News reports. This is about lying in a court of law. You don't see the difference? And it was a mistake was it? Like "oops"? Not a deliberate lie?

There will be no "misunderstanding" when they hear the punitive damages amount when the verdict is read....believe me!!  ????????????????????????????????????????

Make them pay hugely and throw in some jail time for all of them.

So after an angry judge sanctions them for withholding crucial evidence, a grovelling apology from Fox, the trial proper starts Monday. Fox seems resigned to losing the case and taking it to the Supreme Court  for appeal.

Fox News Is on Trial, and So Are Falsehoods About 2020

The jury will be asked to weigh lofty questions about the limits of the First Amendment and to consider imposing a huge financial penalty against Fox. Some of the most influential names in conservative media — Rupert Murdoch, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson — are expected to be called to testify. But there is another fundamental question the case raises: Will there be a price to pay for profiting from the spread of misinformation?

Video of Fox anchors saying straight to camera that Dominion was useless and fixed the election were everywhere a few years ago. Did they forget that it is impossible in the digital age to say anything on camera and have it forgotten?

Start of trial delayed by one day, perhaps to allow Dominion more time to investigate things that came up late on Friday.

Some predict Fox will try to settle prior to the start of the trial, if only to keep Fox News on-air personalities, and various Murdochs, from embarrassing testimony.

Well done Fox News.

So let’s pretend that the false statements made by FOX to the court weren’t first the subject of detailed legal strategy discussions undertaken by FOX and their legal team.

It's nice to see a Fox representative being humble, courteous, and apologetic for making a mistake. Something sadly lacking on air.

As a USA lawyer lying to a Judge is the worst thing a lawyer can do.

Allowing clients to commit perjury in a deposition when you know the client is lying is the second worst thing you can do.

I am happy Old Dominion is litigating this case to show the world the truth about Fox News, its anchors, executives and Murdoch.

Fox News is a fraud machine that has truly damaged the USA.

I wish this was a criminal trial but it's not.  Either Fox will pay, or they won't.  No one's going to jail....unfortunately.  But even with all this out in the open, some Fox viewers still believe that the 2020 election was rigged.  Frankly, stupidity should be against the law.

Pity no jail time--they need to be punished with far more than just a monetary slap on the wrist.

Well done Fox News.

What's really impressive is how Fox has taken a principled stand in covering the news of the trial: by ignoring it and not even acknowledging that they are ignoring it.
