Along the above lines, someone once asked what are the various advantages/disadvantages to extension via retirement vs. via marriage.

I said that for marriage, the main advantage is 400K in the bank vs. 800K in the bank for retirement.

The main disadvantage: You have to be married.

To which UbonJoe came in and said that HIS marriage was certainly no disadvantage. But I did get a lot of humorous-type likes to my post.

Selamet jalan to him.

Whenever Joe answered your question it so assuring, you just knew it was right. So thankful for all Joe's advice over the years. What a gentleman.

Very sad news for us on this forum but also of course for his family and friends.

Not much else I can say that hasn't been said by others. I know there are others on the visa forum who are also very knowledgeable. They have a big space to fill.

RIP

It's been a long time since I visited this forum,  this news was really sad to read.
Ubon Joe helped me when I relocated to Thailand back in 2010, and all the visa related questions I always knew I would find the answer in one of his threads.

You will be sorely missed.  RIP.

Spot on - you could say he had a PHd. in the immigration maze that is in LoS.

Was good to see his photo finally - I always imagined him as a rollypoly English pensioner for some reason.

True comment but to be fair I think many, if not most, expressed their gratitude clearly at the time.

The meeting with a good person always remains a beautiful memory in our lives

Sad news...

He was so patient to all new comers Qs (like mine) which had been addressed 1000 times!

Thank you!

Thankfully there are others to continue his spirit.
