Phuket – Police chased after a Nigerian man in a sedan ,whose passport had expired about four years prior, for about 20 kilometers and later seized cocaine at a house in Phuket where the man resided.

The Phuket Immigration Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday afternoon (August 3rd) they and the Cherng Talay Police chased after a suspicious sedan in Thalang. The sedan was chased from Cherng Talay in Thalang to the main Thep Krasattri road passing the Heroine Monument to Pa Klok before heading to Koh Kaew in Mueang Phuket and to Kathu. The sedan finally became stuck in a ditch in Kathu. The sedan hit many vehicles during the chase.

The foreign man jumped from the sedan and ran away from the police for 300 meters before he was arrested. The man was identified by police as Mr. George Ananere, 26, a Nigerian national. His passport had expired four years ago during Covid – 19. He was allegedly selling cocaine in the Cherng Talay and Patong area, and concerned anonymous citizens had reported him to police.

His passport had expired, no visa and no 90 day report...

Does immigration have an integrated computer system?

Pretty much everywhere I have lived, Nigerians are involved in drugs, prostitution and general law-breaking. I wonder why they are not vetted more carefully.

As the IO goes through my bank statements slowly line by line, highlighting this and that, but never asking any questions, I wonder do they do this to everybody? My visa extensions should be simple....I've never changed address since 2010....never changed bank account....it always has plenty of money....the passport  of course, is changed as it expires, but has always been valid....but apart from that everything is the same.

After more than 70 years of clean living, am I about to embark on a life of crime? No, I'm already old, never had a criminal conviction, never been arrested, a parking ticket or two is about it....why do I get such a hard time, when there are guys like this chap, no valid passport, no visa, dealing coke etc?

Rant over, good for the RTP to catch this fellow....the only question is: was the special BMW involved in this? Askin' for a friend.

I'd be happy with NO visa issues to any Nigerians unless they could prove a regular monthly income of 1,000,000 baht a year for a couple years. That would be enough.

Once they are in the country, 1,000,000 or 1,000,000,000 is easy peasy.????????

IMO The Immigration give us white foreigners such a hard time because they want us all using agents. More cash for them...

If when he arrived he was stamped in for 30 days then the 90 day reporting wouldn't apply but a bell should have rung on his 31st day here.

And how is that different from the Russian mobsters, Indian touts or British hooligans? Making generalities is a slippery cliff. Maybe it is time for the BIB to be processing the overstay lists from immigration for all nationalities. Maybe it is time to limit O visas to one per year?

More of those Quality Tourist's TAT loves !

The RTP police simply don't have the cranial power to create a proper way to track overstayers quicker. It usually leaves them looking like the Keystone Cops. It's so sad that Thailand could be so much more than what it is but there are too many in politics and on the local police forces and local government that simply aren't intelligent enough to lead. So many issues can be solved so quickly like the nasty air, rats, crime, overstayers, etc yet they spend their time on unimportant issues that will bring them the most publicity. Thailand could be the crown jewel of S.E.A. if only........

Concerned citizens reported him? Hard to know if someone is dealing unless you’re in the game too.
